Be honest... Have you ever looked at someones registry and..

Original post by AJsMommy122

Gone OMG someone is a little greedy?!?!?!

I am going to a shower for a 'family friend' and I just went to look at her registry and I cant believe how expensive the things she registered for are!! and theres SO much of it. Its honestly the longist registry I have ever seen. I mean she did put a few 'affordable' things on there but just the registry in general made me go

I haven't had that happen, but what I DO find annoying is that there is someone I know whose shower I am going to and there's like NOTHING on her registry. It just seems like they're asking for money by NOT having a registry. And if you knew this girl, you'd know this is exactly her motive. THAT annoys me. I, of course, will be buying her something, even if it's useless or they have it already because what am I supposed to do, go to the shower with money? No way.

I'm sure if there's nothing on her registry, there is a reason... She is getting married and she most likely can use the money to help out...

We all know that the best gifts are money, then u can use it to buy what you need! for example.. Say you need to buy the knife set to cut the cake and no one brought it, u can use the money towards that....

If you knew this girl, you'd understand. That's all I can say.

I'm usually not that negative about people, so I'm sorry if I sounded like a biotch!!

Totally understandable! Some folks can come off in certain ways!

I have a lot of opinions about that - one, our weddnig has become insanely expensive (in my opinion) and my FI are extrememly generous at other people's weddings, so it is their turn to pony up at ours. I truly feel like you need to do something generous for other people.

The things on my registry start at $95 - and go to $700. My honest opinion is that individuals should give at least $125 and couples should give at least $250.

as they say!

To each, it's own and whatever floats your boat!

Honestly? Just like a guest list, I think the contents of someone's registry is noone else's business. If you don't like (or cannot afford) what the couple has chosen, then don't buy from the registry.

Yeah I have...and it's made me more conscious of not going overboard on mine. We're lucky because FI has a house & I have an apt, so between the two of us, we have ALOT already. So we don't need much - we are registering for alot of towels, sheets, spatula type things, etc. But to each his own & I look at it like even if it's on there & is $500, doesn't mean anyone has to buy it, but maybe someone will - nothing to lose by putting it up on the registry.

I registered at Fortunoff and honestly some of the stuff is very expensive. But what are you going to do not register for stuff you like. I have registered for what I wanted, all of my stuff varies in price. I also am registering at BB&B. People will probably say stuff about me because I do have ALOT of stuff on my registry but what am I gonna do, it's stuff I want and what's not bought I will get 10% off.

Atta girl! We've all waited for this day our whole lives. You get married and create a home with the man you love. Don't let anyone rain on your parade because they either do not share your taste or have negativity running through their veins. You don't pick items on a registry based on what your guests like. You pick them based on what YOU like. If they think it is too much? Oh well, they can do what they are capable of in another way and I am sure it would be appreciated just as much!
