Be thankful...

Be thankful...

When I went to wait for my son at the bus stop today, I was talking to his new little friends mom, who I have become friendly with. This woman and her husband are the sweetest people, with 4 beautiful, very well mannered children.
It was just the 2 of us waiting today, and we got to talking. This woman, who is no more than 35 has cancer. She just finished radiation. You would never know it to look at her. She looks to be in great health, and is always sweet and and bubbly.
After I got over the initial shock, it really made me think. We worry about and get upset over the most trivial things. 'Who is going to do my make-up', 'my dress is 1/4 inch too long', 'my pigs in a blanket were cold' (believe me, I am as guilty of this as anyone else) and don't stop to realize how truly blessed we are not only to be with the person/people we love, but to be HEALTHY.

I just wanted to tell you all how thankful I am for what I have.

Re: Be thankful...

Stacy,

Right along with that we have a student in our school this year he is severly handicapped. He cannot move anything really and he signs and he is in a motorized wheel chair. He has an interpertor and 2 TA's to help him in class. I feel so horrible for him everytime I see him.

Well his teacher had him fill out a getting to know you sheet and one question she asked was if you could change one thing about yourself what would it be? He answered Nothing I love the way I am!

Here I am thinking oh if my butt was only small or if I was only an inch taller, blah blah blah and he is this child who has all of these challenges ahead of him and he is sooo optomistic. He is such an inspirtation!!

Jamie, I have chills. It's so true. It's time to realize that maybe our 'problems' aren't problems at all

You are so correct, and it seems my post for pediatric cancer is so ignored on here

Re: Be thankful...

Thank you so much for posting this Stacy, and also for your story Jamie. If only we could all be so thankful for what we have all of the time.

Jenn, I don't think your post was ignored. I'm sure many people, like myself, took the information down and donated money. Thank you for taking the time to post that and for supporting such an important cause. As terrible as it is to think of all those children with cancer, it's even more terrible to not do anything about it. So thank you again, those children are lucky to have someone out there speaking for them!

I hope so, like Stacey said, there are so many more important things in life!!
