beach ceremony only

I want to have my wedding ceremony on the beach and my reception elsewhere. Does anyone know what beaches you can do this at and how to go about it and who do I need to contact?
Thanks!

I only looked into it for about a week until my FH and I wound up booking at a hall instead. Someone gave me the advice to contact the parks department to see if weddings are allowed on public beaches such as jones beach or long beach. I never got that far though. Sorry. Most of the private beaches come with the reception. There are a few reception halls in Long beach and the beach club estate on the north shore of Nassau I believe.

you can get married at any of the state beaches with a permit, but you can't bring anything on the beach except you and your guests--no chairs, alter, flowers, decoration, sound equipment, etc., etc.

we wanted to have the ceremony @ robert moses, but didn't have the heart to make the grandmas stand in the hot, july sun throughout the ceremony. instead we opted to do it @ the fire island lighthouse, and we'll walk down to the beach for pics. FM if you want details on that. GL!
