Beach Ceremony shade from sun

In the event that the weather goes my way and my ceremony can be on teh beach, I've been toying with the idea of getting some draping to shield the guests from teh sun while their sitting. It's probably a good amount of $$, but for those that may have been to or had beach weddings, is it too much to ask guests to sit in the sun for 20-30 minutes?

I think they can deal with it - but I think it would be a nice detail touch....opinions wanted =)

I am asking my guests to sit in the sun for 30 min in the middle of July. Soooo you should be fine haha.

I am providing each person with a sandalwood fan though, to help keep cool. And I'm thinking about personalized water bottles too.

I think if you can afford it then go for it! If it will make your guests more comfortable then it's worth it.

Even if you can't do the tent... then you should do the fans and the water bottles at least.

I went to a wedding in Jamaica that was off a cliff. It was gorgous, BUT also VERY VERY HOT!! Of the whole week I spent there... this was the hottest day!! The sun was beaming righ on us!! I was sweating through my dress... and mind you I had on a strapless light and airy dress and I was still dying. The bride didn't even wear her veil and the groom had to take his jacket (yup he wore a jacket and long sleeves) mid ceremony and his shirt was saturated with sweat!!
Now, this is of course in Jamaica... so the heat was a tad more extensive... but you never know what kind of weather you will get on that day... better to be prepared for it.

I love the idea of the tent! That would be soo pretty. but it could also block wind.... would you be getting just the top part covered? Not the sides right? That would be super cute!! LIke I said though... if you can't swing it that's ok too... just do those fan programs and water bottles instead.

do you have elderly folks coming? I would assume they would need something. . sept though shouldnt be too bad. . do you have favors yet? bc you could just do cheapish parasols and have them be the favor too. . I know you can get them for 4 dollars or so. . maybe less if bulk. .
