***i'm bumping this old post because i STILL dont know where i am taking pictures and my wedding is just TWO weeks away!!!!!***
i just decided that i really want to take pics after my ceremony at the beach. i LOVE any and all beach pics i see. so, here's my question: WHERE?!
my ceremony is in great neck at 2:30 (full mass) and reception is at North Ritz Club (syosset) at 7:00. so i have a lot of time, which is good - but there really arent any beaches i can think of that are in those areas.
any suggestions????
edit: oh yeah, my wedding is on aug. 2nd - do you think it'll be too hot and/or crowded??
***i'm open to non-beach suggestions as well at this point - thank you!!!!***

Re: beach pictures ...
post this also on the vendors board, you'll receive replies there as well
it may be hot, but worth it. also, i am sure you can find a spot somewhere that's not crowded
Good Luck

I believe there is a park in Glen Cove called Morgan Park that is on the water. You sort of get the best of both worlds...a park setting and a sandy beach setting. My cousin took her pictures there and they looked beautiful. I wanted to go there but it is too far for my wedding party to travel!

You may want to check with your photographer or your reception hall. They should have a good idea of what is in the area. Good luck. We did pictures on the beach and we love them.

I just want to play devil's advocate here for a second, I think you should have a plan B just in case it is a really hot day. I can't imagine walking on the beach in a gown and veil on a really hot day in August, not to mention my FH would pass out in his tux. I would look sweaty and pasty (make-up would be melting etc.) and just plain cranky in the photos. To me, this would be a form of torture. This is because I don't put up with heat very well. If you are able to do it, I think you should be fine with the crowds especially if you go after 5 or so, people tend to clear out before then. Have you taken engagement photos? Maybe you could do these on the beach. Shamma and Sirev's e-pics are amazing! Good luck.

Re: beach pictures ...
Morgan Park is GORGEOUS!!! Definitely my #1 choice! They have a gazebo and everything, plus lots of trees and the beach too!
What about Planting Fields arboretum? I think it's $150 to book it, but it's very pretty there....

When you come to the end of Glen Cove Rd., you'll see a Fire House, make a right onto Forest Ave. About a mile down you'll see a big authentic looking chinese restaurant (with pagodas and everything)... make a left, and take it almost all the way to the end... you'll see signs for Morgan Park, just follow 'em!
Here's more detail, maybe this can help you look it up on a map (I don't know the exact address, sorry!): Morgan Park

Re: beach pictures ...
thank you! but ... i just looked on the web and found a site and it says that you have to be a resident of glen cove or locust valley to use the park for wedding pictures (PLUS get a permit at least 30 days in advance) ... ugh
