Beach Wedding

Beach Wedding

Hi,

I would like to get married possibly on the beach, however places like Atlantica and Cresent Beach Club require a minimun amount of people. My wedding will be relatively small approx 80-100. Does anyone know of other reception sites that provide a beach ceremony and outdoor/panaramic ocien view reception?

Also, has anyone looked at the Pridwin and Ram's head in in Shelter Island?

FYI - this is my first post!!! It is nice joining this chat group.

Welcome!! you will love this site, it gets very addicting! I looked at atlantic and the pridwin.
Depending on the day of the week and time of year you may be able to work it out with atlantica. I cant remember exactly what the pridwin's minimum was but the price per person was a few dollars more than atlantica. I would give them a call. They should both give you the info over the phone.

Re: Beach Wedding

Whatever you find out let me know! Here I wanted a nice simple beach wedding with simple reception - but all the places on the beach have such high minimums and are so costly!
I've actually been considering out of state (which is not going over well with the FILs!)

Hi
I got married at Atlantica in November & it was wonderful!
Although we didn't get married on the beach, many brides do that there & it looks amazing...You should check them out. Here's my review too ...
Atlantica Wedding review

PS- I was originally going to have 100 people and Atlantica was fine with it.

Thanks for the welcome!

I want the same type of reception as well - simple with nature. At first I thought we would do a destination wedding (i.e. Mexico), but in-laws may not be very happy. So then we begain looking at the Northeast regions (i.e. block island, martha's vineyard, nantucket, etc.) but for a beach wedding it was so expensive with site fees and tent rentals, also places to stay were pricey and limited.

I have seen fairly reasonable prices for weddings on the beach in Hilton Head North Caralina. Unfortunately very good friends of ours are planning their wedding there around the same time as ours so we would not want to duplicate their wedding. Another alternative would possibly be cape cod. I went to a dream wedding - I mean fabulous - at Chatham Bar Inn. It was perfect (pricey though).

You may also want to look into the Crow's Nest Inn. I've never been but the deal seems pretty good!

My Aunt had a small wedding at the Bridgehampton Surf and Racquet club. They were married on the dunes and had a beautiful room for their reception.

Beware of the 'deal' at the Crows Nest! There are a lot of hidden costs and most girls have found that it is just as expensive as anyplace else.

Re: Beach Wedding

Exactly! First I was thinking destination wedding - a family friend is having hers in St. Croiux and I am so envious! She is having an intimate affair and relying largely on the natural beauty. I was thinking of doing the same, but so that more relatives could attend I thought of maybe something in Virginia or Maryland (the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club seems so nice - beautiful outdoor area and huge windows in reception area http://www.baybeachclub.com) Future Inlaws pretty much yelled at us for even thinking of having off Long Island (funny since they aren't helping to pay!)

I even thought of doing New England but it is pricey as you said.

I'm probably going to visit Atlantica (the Saturday afternoon pricing isn't horrible and I don't think they have a minimum - not certain) and Land's End (Crescent Beach Club seems nice but too much money). I'm definitely still looking though - hoping for some hidden small, simple (inexpensive) place!

Re: Beach Wedding

A friend of mine got married at Atlantica and had to guarantee 100 people-many of the places are a bit flexible with their minimums once you start talking to them ( i dont know if you already have?) but it's worth a shot-Welcome & Good Luck!

Re: Beach Wedding

I am not sure this would work, but there is a new (small) park being built next to Danfords in Port Jeff. It is almost completed and it is very nice. It overlooks Port Jeff harbor and a marina and there is a very tiny beach there. You would not be able to get married on the sand, but maybe hold the ceremony in the park overlooking the water. You would have to contact the Parks Dept to determine feasibility and take a look at the park to see if it could fit that many guests.

Danfords is literally right next door and has stunning views of the water. You have a perfect guest size for the place. They wanted slightly higher than a 100 guest minimum for us, but we negotiated that down by saying we would guarantee 100 and then make up for it with add ons to the menu, etc. This way we won't have to pay for empty place settings -

I noticed one of you is having your wedding at Montauk Yacht club - how is that place? I have that location on my list as well. Also, has anyone visited shelter island (Pridwin, Ram's head, etc.)?

Thanks for all the great advice! I will follow up on some of the leads (Bridgehampton Surf and Racquet club).

Good to know about the Crow's nest.

It is not the ocean or the LI Sound but how about a Lake? I got married at the Beach Club Estate in Ronkonkoma. My minimum was 80 people for a Sat afternoon. We were supposed to get married outside but it rained on my wedding day. but we still had a nice view of the lake.
