Beauty Question for those already married

Beauty Question for those already married

I feel like as the wedding gets closer, my appearance is on a downward slope (could have something to do with the freezing weather we’re having that doesn’t want to go away), and I want to start getting into some beauty regimens to help me look my best the for my big day. Does anyone have any suggestions for good things to get in the habit of doing beauty-wise (hair, skin, nails, etc)?

Thanks!

Re: Beauty Question for those already married

I am not married yet, but maybe i can help. Drink lots and lots of water and tea. you need to keep your skin hydrated. also, don't be afraid of fatty foods with good fats, like nuts and olive oil and salmon. the essential fatty acids are so beneficial for skin. moisturize!!! don't be afraid to use almond oil either. oil is not our enemy!! i swear!! Get some sleep, head into bed earlier, wake up and stretch or do yoga. wear gloves when you do the dishes or clean the bathroom. put lotion on your hands and feet at night, and use a heavy one, like a salve (which is almost a solid consisteny, like vaseline). i plan on doing crest white strips in july for an augst wedding. i have used them before and they work! deep condition your hair once a week and maybe do a facial (although that could stress out your skin and make it break out but only because your skin may not be used to it). Relax, breathe, use an eye cream, use lip balm, use cutical oil, and smile. sounds cheesey but people look better when they smile!

I began to moisturize my hands every night (with the gloves)... I used Gold Bond lotion, b/c it is strong, but not to slimy.

Also, I began doing a 'hair mask' once a week to help my hair. I also stopped blow drying it completely for the month before the wedding. Instead, I would wear it natural (which is a frizzy mess in my world) or set it in rags at night.

I was more careful about how much make up I wore & made extra careful to wash it completely. (eyeliners, mascaras, etc...) I also began using a sugar scrub once a week and a gentle toner instead of Sea Breeze.

Last but not least, I began to use those 'eye pads' (they lok like cucumbers) to reduce puffiness and bags. I like it b/c it was also a relaxng thing to do and helped me reduce the stress lines that were forming around my eyes.

I felt like the combination of the weather, the lack of sleep and the stress aged me about 10 years in a few months, but I llooked really young in my pics, and have not had too many issues since!!

What a good question, and what great tips! I personally think that all of us are feeling a little 'icky' b/c of this horrid cold weather .. but your advice is excellent!

The Crest White Strips really work? Wow, I've gotta get me some of those .. I figured it was a waste

Get Sleep, Drink Water, take hair vitamins ( I started some right around Christmas and no joke my hair has grown about 2 inches, and they were cheap and form eckerd) start taking care of your skin and undereye skin if you keep them moisturized properly your makeup will look more smooth later on your wedding day.
Just relax.
Also, I started doing pilates right before the wedding and it made a huge difference I didn't really need to loose weight but it helped my posture alot and just made me feel darn good!

I'm the total opposite.. I always told myself that I would never let myself go, ever.. my mom wears lipstick 24/7 and wears lingerie to bed every night lol

def keep up with the regular maintence.. nails/hair done.. I'm not a big make-up person.. but chapstick and/or lipgloss always give you a nice glow and always moisterize your skin

Speaking of moisturizer, I was concerned about wearing it b/c I've got combination skin and was afraid of breakouts. BUT I found some really great non-comedogenic stuff at a health food store. The brand is called 'Kiss My Face' (cute name, yes?) and I've had no problems with it at all. Lots of natural ingredients. Smells nice, too!

Well it sounds like I’m already doing some things right. I moisturize my face every day (I use Urban Decay Guardian Angel Oil Free w/ SPF 15 – best I’ve ever used…it blots all the shine) and under my eyes with Clinique eye stuff. I don’t moisturize the rest of my body as often as I should…I know I’m not drinking enough water or exercising enough. And my nails are a disaster! I started going for weekly manicures, but the second week I was going the girl cut me and I freaked out. So I vowed to do them myself, but I haven’t been keeping up with them, and they’re all splitting and my cuticles are so horrendous. Any advice for what to do for my nails myself?

Thanks to all for your advice so far. Keep the suggestions coming!

Re: Beauty Question for those already married

The crest white strips totally worked!!! and i am eager to try their new more powerful ones. hee hee. kiss my face is a great line-also, i love neutrogena facial moisturizers. for more money, jurlique and dr hauschka are aweseom but a bit pricey.
for boogiedownbride, just moisturize hands all the time and use cuticle oil at night and then push back with a cuticle stick. ripped cuticles and those hangnail things are usually from dry skin, so keep your hands moisturized.

eye cream!!! never too early to start with the eye cream. and lip balm...so important. i notice that when i take care of my skin i need less makeup.

i did a bunch of little things -

- i found myself eating super healthy and being more aware of my exercise schedule
- started getting regular manicures and pedicures
- used the crest white strips every 6 months religiously (i still use them)
- gave myself a facial every sunday
- deep conditioned my hair every two weeks
- started going for leg and bikini waxes

I'm doing home microdemabrasion with this stuff Epidermx. It's really good - my forehead wrinkles have deminished in the 4 weeks since I started using it, and my skin is more even and softer as a baby's butt.

Funny story-
I finished my treatment and put my lotion on one night, and I asked my FI to touch my face and see if it felt any different. It's really, really soft. He touches it and goes - 'Sticky?'

Men really are clueless!

I get mine from here:

Drink tons of water, moisturize, do a mask once a week, eat right and get plenty of rest!
