Here are FBIL's boring invitations. It's really just a 5x7 piece of paper. Like not even card stock. It's thinner than the paper I use to print my resume on...
YES FBIL's middle name is Kelly and YES they are having the wedding in her parent's back yard.
ETA: The reason I comment on the backyard thing is because he made a point out of telling me the Wodlands doesn't look like a very good place for a wedding... apparently his future inlaw's yard is nicer than The Woodlands
lol well i have no problem with having a wedding in a backyard. i wish i was getting married in my grandparents backyard and its not even that great a yard... we just didn't have enough time to plan a summer wedding without waiting an entire other year around.
but... because its your FBIL i'll say...

The only reason I say anything about the backyard is because he likes to brag about how much $$$$$ she has and how fancy everything they do is.

It really is!!!!!!! And I realize people probably think I am a complete biatch for complaining about him so much but really no one has any idea what a tool he is and how awful he is to FH.
I also love that he completely left his parents off of the invite.
ETA: I have also started pronouncing her mother's name Farideh as Faraday so I just tell people that Daniel Faraday is inviting us to the wedding and it's the only reason I'm going.

I love a backyard wedding- when the backyard is wedding worthy! Invites are lame- Even if you got them as a kit from michaels or walmart they could of been a little jazzed up. BUT this is Long Island - we do it Big or we go home !!!

The invitation is way too plain. I am all for plain and simple...but this is too much. I dont like it.
As much as I hate to say it, the backyard wedding will probably be beautiful. Falls Church is a really, really nice town.

I am sure it will but my hatred for him (I seriously see red when I talk about him) prohibits me from thinking it will be anything but terrible. And maybe if he hadn't talked down everything we planned especially our venue, I wouldn't be laughing about the backyard thing. How do you tell me The Woodlands doesn't look like a very good place for a wedding and then have yours in your in laws backyard? Maybe I should include that in my original post so people don't think I'm a complete beast.
My best friend is getting married in a backyard this fall and it's going to be very nice so I probably shouldn't say anything... he just gives me agita.

Now I get it. I'd be making fun of everything too if I were you. The woodlands is one of the most elegant places you can pick! I'd be insulting the yard too : )

ew those are TERRIBLE . . .
FHs friend got married last year and they had the UGLIES invites ever . . . they sort of looked like that but the black border had some nasty ish print . . . and there was a random teal bow tying the crap together. Oh, and they printed the names on the envelope and they smugded. AND, they didn't properly adress FH. They wrote Mr. and not Dr. I made a point to write Dr. on the RSVP though.
Oh, did I mention they were divorced 2 months later.
and the only reason i'm so bitter about them is because FBIL is friends with them, and I just kinda don't like him.
