bed bugs........

Eww... I heard on the radio that there is a bed bug epidemic and that if you get them, it is almost impossible to get rid of them. You can get them by someone who has them coming over your house-- they jump off that person and onto something inyour house, and then you are done! You have to get rid of everything you own- clothes, bedding, furniture, you name it! I am freaked out and paranoid that I or FH will bring them home from work (he works in Brooklyn, I am a teacher)

I heard that too! There was a story on cnn.com this morning with a picture. It totally grossed me out.

I was reading an article about them this morning (complete with picture). They aren't 'dangerous' but they do bite and they are EXPENSIVE to get rid of. I hope that none of us will have to deal with this!

It's a problem all over the country, but it's been a HUGE one in NYC.

I work with a lot of homeless people, and sometimes you can see the body lice jumping off of them. I'm always worried about bringing something home...

FYI... Never step on a Roach, and walk into your house with the same shoes. Their eggs can get caught in the grooves of the shoe, and you can bring it home.... This happened to one of the cops I work with. His wife nearly killed him...

I didn't hear that the problem was just in Brooklyn. I heard that it's a national epidemic.

umm i came back from a hotel in chicago and had a rash..then fiance got it..
we convinced ourselves that we had them..
we threw out piles of clothes..and we cleaned our house..

i lost about 10 pounds from stress..i wouldnt sleep - at ALL...
we also used 2 exterminators..we had no physical signs of them..our arms just kept getting bitten.......no sings of bugs - nothing- just the rash on our arms that progressively getting worse....

then i finally went to a dermotologist...after i looked immaciated from not eating....i found out that it was delayed reaction poison ivy....and fh contracted it from sleeping next to me... and that we had nothing...no bugs - no nothing...

let me tell you - those 2-3 weeks were absolute hell.....that was the worst thing that has ever happened to me- my life was ruined.. i wanted to burn my house down...you think im joking- im not....

i am like an expert on them thinknig i had them...

they are the worst thing to have (or think you have)

I would never have thought of this. But to add...I'd be too grossed out to step on a roach - they're so large!!

this is my biggest fear when staying in hotels. I do a lot of traveling for business and am always paranoid.

One of my BM is a Flight Attendent for Continental Airlines. When they fly into New York they all stay at a hotel in Manhattan-Midtown (not sure if I can say the name)
Well one night she got up with bed bugs on her arm and legs, when she reported it to the manager, it was as if he already knew about it.
Now, when she flies into New York she stays with her Aunt, not in that hotel.
