Shams are for the really big pillows for decoration I believe.
Duvet is a cover for a down blanket so you can easily change the look without having to buy a new comforter.

Re: Bedding Question
ok so wait, If I want the duvet and I reg for the actual duvet, and this bedding is a duvet cover, then my second bedding should be duvet covers as well, right??? otherwise, I am going to have to find somewhere to store the white duvet thing, along with the bedding set, when I want to change bedding?

Re: Bedding Question
Register for...
1 Duvet Cover 1 Down Comforter 2 Standard Shams or 2 Quilted Shams 2 Euro Shams (those are thye big ones in the back) 1 Queen Bed Skirt
and then if you want them some decorative pillows. I always think the decorative pillows that come with these sets are RIDICULOUSLY expensive and you can find ones that match for next to nothing and are really nice at Home Goods.
And sheets.

Yes, if you don't want to store the white duvet, you will need another cover for it for when you change sets.

Ok so I have it wrong?? I should pick EITHER standard OR quilted and then add the Euro? Right?? I have 2 standard and 2 quilted right now, no Euro shams.

You don't NEED the Euro Shams....keep in mind, you buy those, you need to get Euro pillows to put in them because they're square pillows.
I think all you really need is 2 shams (quilted, regular, or Euro), unless you like alot of pillows, then you can get 2 sets.

Re: Bedding Question
The quilted standard sham and the standard sham are the same size.... they're just different materials so you could pick which of the two you like better.
Since the euro shams are quilted you could get those and then the standard shams since they are a different material to break it up. I think it would work because the quilted euro is lighter, the standard sham is a little darker and then if you add decorative pillows those are lighter.
Hopefully this makes some kind of sense.
ETA: I just like the way bedding looks with a Euro sham but you definitely don't need them. I just think bedding looks kind of flat without it. But that is just my opinion.

ITA. Don't forget you need pillows to sleep on, pillows for the standard sham AND pillows for the euro sham (euro pillows).
and your second bedding should be a duvet cover bc otherwise you'll have to store a comforter
eta: i agree with the above posters. you need TWO shams. they can be two quilted or two standard. i am actually using 2 euros right now, but that's a bit atypical.
