Re: Bedding - registry question
we did separates, but that was the bedding we liked....I felt bad about the price and wanted to do a bed in a bag b/c it was less expensive, but FH said to go for it and he preferred the one that was separates, so we went for it! we'll see if anyone buys it though
ets: the bed in a bag that we liked was less expensive than the separates that we liked....certainly not true that one is usually cheaper than the other

Re: Bedding - registry question
we did the bed in the bag, because we found an ensemble that we liked. If none catch your eye, then i say go for the separates!

Re: Bedding - registry question
I've bought bed-in-a-bag before (college and for our current apartment) and the quality was always poor and I always end up kicking myself afterwards for getting it. It's never worth money.
Plus, I remember you saying your new bed is a California King. I very rarely see bed-in-a-bag for CaliKings.
Go for all separates. Macy's, BBB, and LNT have great ones and I know the one's at Macy's are almost ALWAYS on sale.

Re: Bedding - registry question
we did seperates.
I am a brat when it comes to my bedding. I will do bed in a bag if it's a duvet with shams and a bed skirt.
I just don't care for polyfill comforters. I get very cold!

Re: Bedding - registry question
ive had bed-in-a-bag before and the quality was never great. we wanted to register for nicer bedding, and all of the nicer sets came as separates. we also wanted a duvet, which ive never seen as a bed-in-a-bag.
plus, we were really trying to find more things to put on our registry, and the separates gives lots of... separate... items to list.
in the end go with the one you want the most.

Re: Bedding - registry question
I originally wanted separates, but it would cost ~$500 with the items on sale! So, we then switched to a bed in a bag which was $200, but went on sale for $80, and my mom bought that for us because these things get discontinued quickly (and my shower and wedding are still far away)

Re: Bedding - registry question
We did separates. I have bought bed in a bag before and found the quality to be okay but not great. I would register for whichever one you really like the best separate or in a bag.

Re: Bedding - registry question
there are different 'bed-in-a-bags' the ones that are usaully called that are a lower thread count and quality and price $40-$60...you can get 'complete bed ensambles in a bag' and they are usually alot more $$ $99-$400 and better quality. depends on where you look

Re: Bedding - registry question
We did both.....a couple of really nice, high thread count separates + comforters, and a couple of bed-in-a-bags that are a bit more affordable. We registered for quite a few bedding sets (separates and b-i-a-b) because honestly, you can always just store them for later and switch them out for when you need to get rid of the ones that you always use.

Re: Bedding - registry question
I worked in the bedding department at Fortunoff and here is my opinion...
If you have bought a house or are in a place that you will be in for a good long time....register for all separates in something that it nice, you love and will have for a REALLY long time.
If you are in a temporary apartment or something that is not a permanent place for you...go for the bed in a bag. The quality is not great, but it will last you a few years. By the time you move to something more permanent, you'll want to paint and have something NEW for your NEW home.
Also, go for something nice in separates, but that's reasonably priced also. You have no idea how many times people came up to me with a registry and asked me to pull $100 worth of merchandise for a Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren bedding set. When I show them 2 small pillow shams they say, 'I can't give that as a shower gift...it looks like nothing!!' This is the reality of it.
