Re: Bedding...Comforter VS. Duvet??
we're getting a comforter. i think a duvet is a cover that goes on top of your comforter to protect it?
there was a thread about this a while ago... do a search on it...

I was just through this not too long ago. If you get a decorative duvet, it covers a non decorative comforter. With our bedding, the duvet was as much as the comforter and I couldnt figure it out til I went to the store.

Re: Bedding...Comforter VS. Duvet??
Exactly...a duvet covers a white (traditionally down) comforter. It's a decorative cover that is usually sold 'a la carte' style meaning that you need to buy shams, bedskirts, etc separately, plus still purchase the white down (or down alt) comforter it covers.
A comforter is typically a printed 'Blanket' that goes over your bed. They are sold as sets or even more inexpensively priced as 'Beds in a Bag'. They are sold as ensembles. Comforters tend to be more traditional in prints (think florals) while Duvets tend to be more edgy in fashion.
I work as a planner for BBB so this is a generalization of what assortments reflect. HTH!

Re: Bedding...Comforter VS. Duvet??
basically if you have a down comforter, that is when you need the duvet... you cant really sleep with a down comforter without one! welll, i guess you can, but it isnt super practical... the duvet protects the down comforter... .

Re: Bedding...Comforter VS. Duvet??
Hey, I didn't know this -- can someone look up the bedding set I'm getting? It's by Donna Karan and I don't think it has a comforter, only a duvet???
