Been MIA....reason

Hello all....I used to be a poster here fairly often...although I was never engaged we were heading in that direction and started the planning....(although the ring was never given)....ANYWAY....after months of truly not being happy and fighting more than we were having a good time together, I decided to end the relationship back in October.

It wasn't easy, but now with insight and time to think about it (without him around), I know it was the thing to do. If we would have gotten engaged I would have been blindsighted with the planning and the excitement and we would have ended up together only for it to fall apart later on or for us to be extremely unhappy.

Since we broke up I've been concentrating on grad school and spending time with friends and have recently began dating again. I know there has to be a guy out there that is right for me & that we are compatible and bring out the best in e/o. The ex truly brought down my self-esteem and our relationship was just not healthy, but when you are in it, it's so hard to see.

I do want to thank all you ladies though for being there and mainly for cheering me up. Alicia, thank you MOST OF all....if it wasn't for you I don't think I would have had the strength to end it. I really am grateful.

That does not mean you cannot visit us and share the things that are going on in your life, trips, dates, participate in threads. You are a strong woman. I take my hat off to you. There are many that will settle for any man or a piece of a man, or a man that treats them bad and make them feel bad, instead of seeking what is best for them. I wish you all the best.

Although I am certain your decision was painful and difficult, I applaud your strength and intelligence to choose the more difficult road to walk in order to be happier in the long term.
