Before you buy April Fresh Downy

Before you buy April Fresh Downy

Be aware that the fragrance has changed!!!! Since I'm allergic to just about everything, fragrance wise, I have always loved April Fresh Downy, because it didn't give me a headache. With my recently purchased April Fresh Downy, I noticed it was different, so I called the company. I was given a very high tech explanation for the different fragrance, ie., capsules of some kind were added so you smell the fresh first!!!!!!!!!!! Huh???? So, basically you're telling me, 'Yes, the fragrance is different!!!' I told her my allergy story, and she told me to get a different Downy, which name escapes me right now, but I want my old Downy back!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why do they have to mess with something that works for me???????? The lady suggested I could mail the new bottles of Downy back for a refund. Oky Doky, let me see, that would be three 64 oz. bottles at................. lady, you have got to be kidding me!!!!!!!!!!!!! My fabric softner vent is over. Thought you gals with allergies might want to know. Mary MOB

Oh wow, that stinks, no pun intended. I switched from that a while ago and now use some Downy in a white bottle. The April Fresh was making me nauseous when I was sleeping on the fresh washed pillows.

Oh, Christine, I'm sorry to hear my favorite doesn't work for you!!!!!!! But I can definitely relate to smelling a fragrance on bedlinens and having a negative reaction. That happens to me whenever I get a perm. I know I can buy the non-scented, but since my world is pretty much devoid of scent, I was thrilled the April Fresh was working for me. Mary MOB

No, the white is not unscented. One of them is lemon verbena and one is, I think, white lilac. Plus they have matching Tide scents. I used to only buy April Fresh, but within the last 6 months the scent was just too strong for me.

Ok, I went on the Downy website, and found the fragrance the lady suggested. It's Cashmere and Silk. I don't think I've ever seen this one at Wal-Mart. Has anyone tried it? Mary MOB

Christine, which do you use? I would definitely be allergic to anything lilac; What does lemon verbena smell like? Mary MOB

oh, I saw that one at Wal-Mart today. I haven't tried it yet, though. It has a big coral colored flower on it. Wait, one of BM's uses that. I know this because I helped her move. She's very particular so if she likes it, it definitely doesn't stink.

Lemon verbena smells fresh and only slightly lemony. Lemon verbena is an old southern sachet scent so it has a sentimental connotation for me to. The matching Tide has baking soda in it, too.

Well, may be a blessing in disguise!! I'll try to find the Cashmere and silk. Is that the one you said has a coral colored flower? Mary MOB

I'll have to smell the lemon verbena. Then I'll know what Laura Ingles Wilder smelled like!!!!!! Do you remember the mention of lemon verbena in the Little House on the Prairie show? Mary MOB

See, that's why I love you! That's what they used to use to keep their 'unmentionables' fresh. I got the complete set of books for Xmas one year and read and reread them cover to cover. It was one of my all time fave shows and I cried my eyes out when Michael Landon died.

Christine, I absolutely LOVE Little House, and Anne of Green Gables!!!! I have a very old 1936 volume belonging to the Anne of Green Gables Series. I think it's called 'Anne of Windy Poplars', by L.M. Montgomery. It had belonged to my now almost 80 yr. old Mother. Debi likes Anne of Green Gables too. I would love to buy both sets of videos, Little House and Anne!!!!!!!!!! Love you too, hon!!!! Mary MOB

Why do they have to mess with something that works for me????????

I can totally relate to that statement. I am allergic to all floral scents and I have a hard time with a lot of makeup products. They keep discontinuing products I use that took me a long time to find, and then I have to go through the whole process again.

Oh, Linda!!!!!! I hear ya!!!!!!!!! I'm allergic to florals too!!! I also get upset when my favorite products are discontinued!!!!!! My Mom use to hang laundry outside; Could never figure out why I got so stuffed up, at night. I think it was because the bedlinens were capturing the pollin, that I was allergic to. So, now most of my laundry is dried in the dryer, with the exception of drip dry stuff. Mary MOB

I can do fruits and foods for candles and air fresheners (but I have to remove the bathroom one before I go to sleep...it's too close to my bedroom). I know it sounds silly at my age, but I actually wear a Cotton Candy body spray as my daily 'perfume.' Luckily FH loves it (as well as all of my little nieces and nephews )

The sweet scents agree with me also, but when I recently bought a Glade (?) vanilla scented flameless candle, I had to get that puppy out of here!!!!!!!! That was NOT my idea of vanilla!!!!!!!!!! Mary MOB
