My FH and I have been engaged for a little over a month, and want to wait until Oct 2012 for the wedding.
When looking at venues for the engagement party, I was constantly asked if I booked my wedding yet. I told the GM's 'No, not yet...we want to wait till oct 2012 so have plenty of time'. Well, they all seemed to think differently and told me that I should really get started.
So, my question is.....Do you girls think I am a step behind the game?? Isn't 21 months PLENTY of time for planning??

Unless you are absolutely set on a particular day you have plenty of time. Honestly even if you are set on a particular day I think that you also have plenty of time.
Take time to enjoy being engaged.

Thanks girls......I like October 13th, but I'm not 100% completely set on the date. I plan to start looking at venues within the next month....just didn't know if I was crazy be taking my time, lol.

Im looking to get married in october as well and although I would like to have booked it yesterday we will probably wait until april.

Yea I agree with the other girls. If you have a set date & place then it's better booking sooner than later. But if you are flexible, then you can wait a few to book. In my case we wanted End of April and Beginning of May and We book last wk and we were still limited with dates on certain halls. Take your time.

Yeah, like they all said/...unless you're attached to a certain date, you don't have to worry about booking this far in advance.
if you could pick a hall you like, and say, sometime in October, they can def accommodate you a year in advance...

i think it all depends on where and if u have a specific date...if ur flexiable then it should be ok...but some 2013 brides are already booking...i would start looking soon though because after the hall u need to book all your vendors

Like some of the other girls said I wouldnt worry too much... unless you have a specific date you MUST have then you have PLENTY of time!

I am a bit of a type A and like to plan everything early. So i got engaged on new years and booked my hall already. Most ordinary people (not vendors) are surprised its all done, so i don't think you have anything to worry about. With that said, the fox hollow only had 3 days that worked for us in 2012 so i guess some places book up quicker than others

I will be honest-booking the hall is obviously the most important. I don't think you have to go crazy rushing, however I was actually pretty surprised how many people were booked for 2012. If you want a big weekend, I would start looking now. Most places we went to were booked Memorial Day & Labor Day weekends in 2012. If you are flexible then don't worry as the other girls mentioned.
