Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has info on being married by a friend who has been ordained. I saw this idea in a bridal magazine, and since we're not religious, we thought it would be a great idea. Just wondering if anyone has done this and what you did once they were ordained? (he already got his 'certificate' through the universal church of life') Thanks!!!!!

Re: Being Married By a Friend
it's funny you mention this, my friend just offered to marry us over the weekend! I thought it was sweet, and I would have loved it. But we already have a preist coming to our hall, and FH thought our families would like that better.

Re: Being Married By a Friend
Our grandparents weren't thrilled at first since I'm Italian and he's Irish, but we wanted to be married by someone who means something to us, and since we haven't stepped foot in a church in years, it seemed like a good idea. We just don't know where to go from here since we do like a lot of the traditional vows and I would dread writing my own, just not good like that!

Where did he get ordained? if you know. And how are you choosing your vows?

Re: Being Married By a Friend
I am not sure how he got ordained(possibly through his church, I'll ask). As far as vows & the whole ceremony I am going to plan it out myself, he'll do what ever I ask & he's free, LOL.
edited to say: he has done other weddings, so I know he knows what hes doing.

At this point, the free part might just be the best part!
