I am going to post my entry for you guys to read. Now, this doesn't mean that I think I was one of the final 8, it just means that I wanted to share my thoughts with you guys! This really and truly comes from the heart, and I hope you like it...so here it goes: My entry:
There once was a girl from Nantucket…(just kidding) My LIWedding’s Experience I was actually already deep into the planning stages of my wedding when I “found” LIWeddings. I was surfing the web one day for makeup artists, and somehow came across Oksana’s website. I gave her a call, and we made an appointment for a consultation. I booked her on the spot! Not only was she an amazing makeup artist, but she was a beautiful person, inside and out. She shared with me a secret, something that would change my life forever. She told me about this website called “LIWeddings”, and said I should check it out. So I did. Now at first, I was a bit shy about going onto a website and sharing such personal information about myself to total strangers. But eventually, I caved! I signed up under CMC723, and began experiencing for myself what this site is all about! And Oh My GOD, what an amazing experience it has been! The people on this site are an amazing group of individuals! We share laughs, and we share tears. Our personal stories are not so personal when you realize that there is someone out there going through the very same thing you are going through. Somehow, it’s comforting to know you are not alone. We’ve gotten into heated discussions ranging from proper grammar, to who should be our next President! (Although, the great grammar debates tend to be slightly more exciting!)
My husband thinks I’m crazy to be so addicted to a website. But who cares! I’m having a blast! I remember when I first joined LIW, I had NO IDEA how to go about posting a picture. I was at a loss, but not for long! The girls welcomed me with open arms, and basically walked me through the do’s and don’ts. (I have to admit, I occasionally forget the rules from time to time..lol) But that’s ok, we’re all still like family. Swags was my hero though. She came to my aid on more than one occasion, and for that she has a special place in my heart! Muah! (Especially since she still speaks to me, even though I insulted her neighborhood when we spoke at the WOTY! Talk about putting my foot in my mouth – * faint * - now only if she could help me with my procrastination issues; It’s 10pm on 3-31, do you know where your contest entry is??)
Seriously though, I’ve met some nice people and I’ve met some “different” people. And there’s one thing I’ve come to realize: We’re not so different at all! We’re all caring, decent, passionate, human beings, and we all want the same thing, to be happy. And I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that I am grateful to LIWeddings. Grateful for the friends that I have made through this site, and grateful to know that there’s a place out there we can go to for help in almost every aspect of our lives; from planning our dream wedding to decorating our first home, from swapping wedding pictures to swapping recipes. There is just so much to experience when you log on, you just never know. Just like Forrest Gump once said, “Life (or in this case: LIW) is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.” Thanks LIW!
