There was a rumor circulating at work right before I left that they are now monitoring our online activity. &(@#&$*@#&$@*#(&$#@)(*&$(@)*#&$(@)#!!!!!!!!!!!! That's about all I have to say about that So you're telling me that if I have absolutely NOTHING to do at all then I have to just sit at my desk and twiddle my thumbs????

My FH does computer stuff, and one of his jobs is to monitor people's internet and AIM use and block websites that are non-work related and visited too much. So apparently most companies watch your online use - I think it's dumb haha

great point i think almost every job does this
its funny bc people think that if they email something from a work email and then delete it - that its gone forever, which is just not true. every website and email is recorded . . . they may not be able to look at it all but it is there and then if they need something against you - they will find it.
speaking of that. . .maybe i should get back to work lol
I think every company does this - maybe some smaller 'mom and pop' places dont - but even they can purchase the software. . .be very careful!
i accidentally opened up a nude pic of Harry Potter at work bc no one marked it as NSFW and i cant stop thinking about it! not him nude of course, but just the trouble i can get in if someone checks!!!

My job is a small firm. I am always paranoid so sometimes I think I am being monitored bec sometimes I hear my CPU making weird noises everytime I go on here or myspace or maybe its just be. But I agreee, when its soooooooo slow at work I surf and on LIW, what am I going to stare at the wall, I have a wedding to plan!!!!!!!!!

yeah..my job has 'websense' that blocks everything...but some guy that used to work here got past the administrator password and downloaded AOL on my computer so they cant block me...my boss knows though and is always asking me what's good on emails today! lol

Most companies that require internet access for employees have some type of tracking software. The most common is keystroke logging. Which basically is a software installed that records all keystrokes. So, for example if you are on AIM and type something to your friend... erase it and decide to type something else... the original sentence you typed (even though you didn't send it) is still logged.
You have to be careful with that if you are using your work computer to check you accounts online. The people who work in the tech dept can easily copy down your passwords and gain access to your bank accounts/paypal. Here is a link that explains it a little more:
they started monitoring us too and when that didn't work they blocked all non work related website. I seriously have to hack on to LIW, it's worth it though. If they fire me that just means I can spend more time on here, double bonus!

lol funny you should say that you guys are being watched.. I am a computer teacher but I do surf the net when there's downtime... we're not supposed to but I do it anyhow.. makes me look busy..lol
They're supposed to install web filtering software to block out sites like MySpace and such but I've been stalling the IT guys..lol
