Has anyone been to Belize? FH and I are thinking of going on our honeymoon there. We're looking for an all-inclusive hotel/resort. Are there any there? Any recommendations/suggestions? TIA~

Re: Belize Honeymoon
I went to Belize on a stop while on a cruise last April. I know port areas are usually different than resort areas but I can tell you some things.
First it really is beautiful! I went on a tour of the Myan ruins and they let you climb them there still (others have stopped letting tourists climb them as they are falling apart). We had to drive through the rainforist inorder to get to them and it was really pretty and peaceful. We also had a tour of Belize city, IMO don't waste your money it looked like anyother central american or island city. Some nice buildings but nothing impressive. We had a great tour guide which makes a big difference. Also they make this stuff called Cashew Wine (belize uses cashews in everything bc it is so prevelant there) the wine gross... the cashews DELICIOUS (if you like them). The worst thing about Belize are the locals are very pushy and try to sell you any and all drugs you want. I have been to alot of places and that happends in most. But these people were relentless it was uncomfortable and at times a little scary....
Well HTH good luck!

Re: Belize Honeymoon
I am going to belize for my HM. I'm not sure if there are any resorts that are completely all inclusive. You can add meals at many of the resorts so then you would only pay for drinks....the hotels in belize arent Huge resorts like you would have in a place like cancun or some of the islands

Re: Belize Honeymoon
The only issue with Belize is that it has beautiful beaches, but only on its islands and atolls. Belize has the second largest barrier reef in the world. Therefore, if scuba or snorkeling is somthing you like, or want to try, you should stay on Ambergris Caye-an island off the coast. However, if you want to go hiking in the jungle or visiting the Mayan ruins, you have to stay in Belize proper. If you want to do both beach and land based, you can spend a couple of days on land and then off to Ambergris.
