so we're getting belly dancer to come to the reception... cuz well thats what we do in my fam, lol. we found a really nice girl who dances awesome! but now my question is... how long should she dance for? she would perform by herself, then with me and fh, and other family as well. fh says half an hr. my mom says one hour. and me... well i have no idea. i think an hr would be tooo much but is half an hour enough???

I would definitely do a half hour. I think your guests might start to get antsy if she was there for an hour.

Half an hour.
More than that is a wee bit overkill.

Re: bellydancer poll.........
LOL sory i just will never understand why people do this.
i wouldn't want anything my wedding that's going to put the sole attention on any one other individual for more than a DJ's-announcement space of time.
but... yeah i mean.. JMO.
but since you asked a specific question and so i dont sound like a total jerk face... half an hour.

I agree that an hour would be too long. I think half an hour is a good amount of time for her to dance with you all and keep people's attention. After that, I think people would want to move on. JMHO

Re: bellydancer poll.........
i went to a party where they danced for about half an hour. after 15-20 minutes, the audience started to chat amongst themselves. then she started dancing with candles in her hands and that brought everyone's atttention back!
