Bermuda

Bermuda

Has anyone been to Bermuda? If so, what did you think of it? Since I started thinking about my honeymoon, I’ve had my heart set on staying in an overwater bungalow, but as far as I knew, the only islands that had them was French Polynesia. Then I just came across a resort in Bermuda that opened in 2005 that has them!! So I’m thinking… less $$$ and certainly a lot closer (I was having a tough time getting FH on board for the 12-13 hour flight to FP) however, I’ve heard mixed things about Bermuda. Some say there is no nightlife and that it is much quieter than other islands. Don’t get me wrong, we are definitely lounge-on-the-beach-all-day types, but I’d like to know that we could do activities/excursions as well.

I would appreciate any thoughts! Thanks!

You are talking about 9 beaches correct? I have a friend that went there. She loved it and said it was so nice! However, it is not a luxury resort. i dunno if this is something you want or not. There is a dive resort in Hondorus that has over water bungalows, but again it is not luxury- actually I think its rustic. FH and i are going to Brazil and staying in an over pool bungalow. it is called Nannai Resort. (google it and it will come up also has reviews in tripadvisor.) Its supposed to be very luxurious. If interested contact Ali at travel solutions. She is doing some research on it for us. And its about 1/4 the cost of going to tahiti or bora bora or the maldives.

Yes, 9 Beaches. We were thinking of just staying there for a few nights and then flying somewhere in the Caribbean to stay in a more 'luxurious' resort for the rest of the trip. I just want the experience of an overwater-type room! I see pictures of it and it looks amazing! Brazil sounds wonderful too... I'm in the early stages of planning right now, so I'm open to anything!

haven't been..the only thing to keep in mind is it may not be HOT when you are there..that's the only reason we crossed Bermuda off our list when we were figuring out our HM

I was there last July. The weather was very warm, but the local people did say that it gets very cool there. The thing I liked most about Bermuda was that I felt very safe. We took the public buses all around the island, which I was skeptical about at first, but they were very clean, inexpensive and got us everywhere we wanted to go. It is definitely one of my favorite places I've been to. I would absolutely go back there again.

We were there last august. Didn't stay in the 'over water' resort but we were at the Fairmont Southhampton which was wonderful!! Bermuda is nice but very quiet - not a lot of night life at all...I think 3days there is about all you will want to do.

I have a friend who just got back from Bermuda - they stayed at Coco Reef and really liked it, they did say that they went to dinner at the Fairmont Southampton and were totally wowed by that resort.
The beaches look gorgeous there!!!

My sister and her husband stayed at that hotel and loved it! I've also been to Bermuda and I've always wanted to go back with my husband at some point. The only problem is that you could run out of things to do. But it is beautiful and the flight isn't too bad.
