Bermuda Cruise - long
I posted earlier about my sept 14 wedding at JA's, now I am going to do a review regarding our honeymoon....a cruise to Bermuda on Royal Caribbean's Nordic Empress for those interested....Since this was my first time cruising I enjoyed the experience overall, and we were fortunate to have great weather. However, hubby & I were disappointed in some of the ship's amenities. The Nordic Empress is a bit outdated (very early 90's decor) and there was only one pool and 2 jacuzzis -always full, so the ship was lacking in that area. The food was very good in the formal dining room but not too good in the casual cafe which was the only alternative to formal dining. The entertainment was pretty decent, lots of activities onboard to keep busy. Our cabin had an oceanview balcony on the top deck, but was still relatively small. I can only imagine the size of the staterooms of lesser price. We paid 1600 each for our cabin.
Bermuda is a beautiful, clean, safe island but very expensive. Definite places NOT TO MISS there:
Horseshoe Bay - gorgeous beach with great coves.
Elbow Beach (check out the resort- amazing.)
Tobacco Bay - great for snorkeling
Swizzle Inn - cool little pub
Crystal Caves
Bermuda Perfumery
Gibbs Hill Lighthouse - provides great views of island
St. Georges & Hamilton- upscale shopping
Trimminghams - it's like Harrods of London!
Eat out one or two nites off the ship- we had dinner at Tom Moores Tavern & Barracuda Grill (need reservations & a bit pricey but very romantic places..)
Skip the Royal Naval Dockyard - get a 4 day ferry/bus pass and travel the island at your own pace.
If we were to return - we'd stay at Elbow Beach or Southhampton Princess rather than cruise in...... these resorts are just lovely.

Bermuda: A+

Re: Bermuda Cruise - long
I totally agree with you. We took the same cruise 2 years ago and yes, the ship is outdated. Bermuda is incredible and FH and I would love to go back there and spend a week.I'm glad you had a good time!
