Re: Bermuda Honeymoon
I love Bermuda!! The beaches are gorgeous! It is nice and warm in the summer months, not sure about other times of the year. Nite life, not so much. There are bars to go to and restaurants. It is a very relaxed island, so if you guys like to party, I wouldn't go. The island has little to no poverty and is super clean. The people are really nice as well.
We were considering Bermuda for the HM, but stuck with our original idea. I looked into The hotel 'The Reefs'. I was going to get a Junior suite since they had just gotten remodeled. The regular rooms looked a little old, but they might of updated by now. It is a small little resort, but it gets great reviews. Look up trip advisor. Also, it includes breakfast and dinner with your stay.
The Elbow Beach hotel looks beautiful as well.
There five star resort on the island is the Southampton. It looks great! The things I didn't like about it when I looked was the price, kind of expensive, Also, it didn't include any meals. Food in Bermuda is expensive, and I thought including it in the hotel was a good idea.
Sorry, so much info.

Re: Bermuda Honeymoon
We booked the Grotto Bay resort from 6/12 to 6/18. Anyone we talked to about the island has only had good things to say about it.
Our first choice for an all-inclusive package, price, and location was Cambridge Beaches but they were booked solid. Second choice was Grotto and we're pretty happy with the choice.
We are 'explorer' types who don't spend all day on the beach or in the pool so it was important to safely travel around outside the resort. Everyone has said it's perfectly safe and clean.
Temperature is also a factor, it's cooler than the Carribean in June although any tropical locale that time of year will be warm and humid.
And we were happy with the short flight. Only 2 1/2 hours from JFK. More time at our destination!!
I'm really looking forward to it! Good luck with your plans!

Clarity, wow! Great pics! Have any helpful hints, things to avoid, etc? We will be eating most of our meals there, since we're paying for the food! But we'd like to find another place outside the resort to have a formal 'dress-up' kind of meal.
Also, where was your room and did you get to choose the room? I was going to call them because someone said to be prepared to walk if you get one of the oceanfront rooms on the end!

I booked on expedia and got an oceanfront room. there is a tiny beach on the resort thats good for walking in, but its too small to enjoy for too long.
Not sure about walking? I guess i walked but i dont remember feeling like i walked too much anywhere.
there are caves onsite that are really cool to visit. i forget where exactly they are, but somewhere past the jacuzzi.
As soon as you walk out of the resort, you will see the busstop and that takes you everywhere! You can walk to the swizzle inn. Everyone raves about the food there but I didnt care for it. its kind of like english pub food. BUt its def worth visiting anyway, if only for drinks.
To be honest, I don't remember eating anywhere remarkable in Bermuda. The only amazing meal I remember is the brunch in the resort. its soooo good. it's the biggest spread I've EVER seen.

Re: Bermuda Honeymoon
here is the bartender from Grotto bay. second pic is of the caves on the property (really cool- you cant tell too much from the pic since it was fairly dark in there)
Gibs Hill lighthouse at the end of the island is worth visiting. great view from the top.

Re: Bermuda Honeymoon
Love Bermuda. Have been there about a dozen times - my company actually has an office there which I get sent to once in awhile.
If you are looking for beautiful beaches - I would go to Elbow Beach.
Fairmount - Hamilton Princess - is within walking distance of town and has a sister property in Southhampton - which you can get to by boat.
Easily one of my favorite places - and what an easy flight!
