Re: best cheap couch resource?
i'm not sure if there are couches, but thee is a pottery barn outlet in tanger in riverhead that has tons of furnuture, and a lot of it is pretty inexpensive...i know they have chairs sometimes, but it is very hit or miss...good luck..we will be in the same boat soon enough...

try the macy's clearance center- its in the macy's furninture store in the far corner area in glen cove but maybe they have others.....its hit or miss so you may have to go more than once and you must be willing to deal with rooting thorugh rows of furniture (some is crap and ruined but others are brand new but discontinued or overstocked and well worth the $$$ savings!!) and to deal with poor customer service while you wait....we've bought stuff there be4 - most recently our leather loveseat for a spare room - and its is worth it in the end.....delivery is cheap too..i think its $80 per 1st piece and $20 each additional or you can take it yourself if you want for free!

We got our TV entertainment unit there - there were a few chips but nothing you could see without being close up and then DH put some sort of carpenter's stuff on it to hide the marks. Can't even tell now where the chips had been. And it was 60% off. My dad's gotten other things there too with good results.
Bring one or two other people with you because if you're looking for a few things, you should have someone stand next to the item you want or else someone will want to buy it if you are not standing there saying 'we are buying this'. That way someone else won't grab it before you get the sales guy to come over!
