Best man Aggravation! (sorry, long)

Best man Aggravation! (sorry, long)

The guy my FH asked to be his best man has turned into the worst!

First a few months back he gave us a hard time about getting the tux. He lives in Florida & we are here in NY. He has a physical handicap & said he HAD to have the tux done there & then bring it here with him. I didn't like that idea. Just a bad feeling that it would be wrong, lost or damage. He then asked me who was paying for it & then when I told him attendants usually pay for their own attire but if it were a problem to let me know & I'd talk to FH he then said to me 'well then this is what I'd doing'....getting it in Florida. At another point John's parents offered to pay for it here and then all of a sudden he had no problem having it done here.

Here is the latest......

Wednesday he called FH & told him he was coming up the Wednesday before the wedding & his girlfriend was coming on Thursday but she wasn't renting a car because 'she doesn't know the roads up here'. Well how is she getting from the airport or to the wedding. His BM would be in the limo. And then they would have to get from the wedding to their hotel and then to the airport. He can't drive a regular car. He needs a handicapped equipped car but she can drive. What the Hell kind of excuse is that for not renting a car.

John talked to him Friday night & told him he wanted him to come to the wedding but that he was going to have his dad serve as his best man. That things seemed to be getting to complicated. I was waiting for him to ask someone to pay his airfare & hotel next. He already tried to invite himself to stay at my house the whole time.....NOT. He also asked John if he could bring his GF 2 young kids...NOT! He was getting very demanding & stressing both of us!

Now the last straw and then I'm done....

He called John's place yesterday & got really nasty saying he wasn't coming to the wedding at all. He told John that he gave him a cop out excuse for not 'accomedating him' and 'your s*c*h*m*u*c*k girlfriend seems to be controling you because it doesn't seen that you want to help me out'. Are we supposed to have his family or us driving them around on our wedding day or not go on our HM to chauffer them around? He is SUCH AN A$$!!!

Needless to say he will not be coming at all so he says. But we still will send an invite so he can NEVER say he didn't come because he wasn't invited.

I am so sorry this is soo long!

You have every right to be upset.... he seems to be awfully demanding... I'm sure once he thinks about it, he will agree that your FH made the right decision in having his father serve as his BM. Being so far away is an obstacle to begin with, ya know? Try not to be too upset over it... Send him an invite and see if he shows... if not, you and your FH will still look like the bigger people... He may come around...

Sorry Jodi!
It's too bad that he is giving you problems- you did the right thing- it sounds like it would only get worse!

Oy Vey Jodi! ( U knew I would put an 'oy' in there somewhere) What a creep! I think it is rude and disgusting to even place this type of stress on you during the planning of the wedding and during the wedding!!! John did the right thing to kick him out of the wedding and to ask his dad to be his best man. I would sent the invitation therefor the ball is in his court and you both made an effort! Want me to send Alex after him- he does work in a bad area and knows how to kick some a$$ if he had too!!! Just kidding. But seriously John did the right thing.

It's always amazes me how selfish friends and family can be to the bride and groom!! Its about YOU TWO not them!!! I think your better off w/o this major pain in the a$$! He would have caused you more problems down the road! Good luck to you! I think the idea of your 'new' best man is actually very nice!

I know John did the right thing!

His dad is the BEST MAN!!! I love his dad.

This guy will never call & apologize. He has the attitude that the world owes him or should kiss his a$$ because he has a handicap! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

I couldn't believe that he felt John should be 'accomodating him' and helping him out. Isn't it supposed to be the other way around here????
