FH has 5 very good friends. he didn't want to pick the best man because he felt bad so he was going to just ask them who wanted to be it.
i finally talked him out of this idea & he finally picked one of them. the problem is that the one he picked is too shy to give a speech so do you think its ok to have him as the best man & then have someone else give the speech???

Re: best man question
this is fine. My friend got married and her MOH didn't wanna do a speech so another BM did. But then you have to worry about who is going to give a speech.

Re: best man question
Has the guy FH chose TOLD you he's not comfortable giving a speech? I would find out before you ask anyone else. I'm just thinking that another person might be insulted if you asked them to give a speech but not be BM.

Re: best man question
I would ask him to just say two sentences something like 'best of luck, we are so happy for you' he could even make a joke out of saying 'i'm no good at speeches so...best of luck!'

Dont they both usually give the speech anyway?
And to answer your question I think it would be fine but what if you let the BM choose who he wants to give his speech, does that make sense/sound okay? Maybe he could write it with the other person and even just stand there too as the other person reads it, maybe?

Re: best man question
Has he told you or FH that he doesn't want to make the sppech? I think you guys should make him lol. When I was the MOH at my sister's wedding, I was too shy to make a speech but I got over it and did it anyway.

Re: best man question
of course the MOH (my sister) is giving a speech, if it wasn't for her i would have nothing done for this wedding. lol.
yes the best man has said he is not comfortable giving a speech. one of FHs friends already told him that he started writing a speech in case he was picked.
i think i am going to suggest that all the guys give a couple of lines to the one friend who has no problem giving public speeches & let him put something together.

nah we can't make him, he is that shy. him & FH have been friends since freshman year of high school & i have known him for 9 years & he just recently started speaking in front of me.

LoL. I don't think it's a big deal if the BM doesn't make the speech. No worries!

Re: best man question
yeah have the MOH do the speech.... or just have the BM do a brief intro to the MOH for her to do her speech.
Or..... have the most outgoing groomsman do the speech on behalf of the entire bridal party

Re: best man question
it should be fine. our BM is also shy and worried about having to give a speech, so two of our other groomsmen will be giving a speech. or we'll get our BM tipsy enough to also give the speech.
