best man speech

this might be a mini rant but I just want to see if anyone feels the same. So FH's best friend is his best man and we never hang out with him! In our relationship it's always my friends we see even though I always try to tell FH to make plans with his friends he just doesn't. My sister is my MOH and we're really close with my family so I know she'll be able to accommodate FH in her speech if she chooses to. When it comes to the BM speech I'm really worried it'll be terrible because not only does he barely know me but I feel like he barely knows FH anymore either. Are you girls all close with the best man? Is this relating to anyone lol

best man speech - Long Island Weddings

i mean that's one part of your wedding you cannot control... Most people don't even listen to the speeches lol so I wouldn't worry too much about it!!

One thing I've seen alot with the guys speeches is that they usually do not seem to be pre-planned anyway haha and the girls speeches are usually the heartfelt ones that are thought out and planned ahead of time... So don't be worried about whether or not the best man speech will reflect you guys as a couple well because the best man probably won't know what he is going to say until 30 seconds beforehand lol

best man speech - Long Island Weddings

Yea I wouldn't worry most of the guys speeches talk about when the are younger. I do know my FH's best man well but Im afraid his speech is gonna be about dumb stuff we all have done over the years that probably aren't appropriate in front of my family. You have a few more months until the wedding maybe u can make more of an effort to hang out so that maybe it will put your mind at ease.

best man speech - Long Island Weddings

His best man is his brother who hates me. FH and his brother don't really get along but FH thinks its 'the right thing to do' having him as his best man.

My MOH is my best friend and has gotten close to FH over the years. She's ready to play interference and my DOC is also aware that my worry is that the best man speech will end with my slugging him.

best man speech - Long Island Weddings

My MOH was my best friend & she did the most amazing speech at our wedding. Then my BIL got up & we realized he hadn't prepared ANYTHING! Like literally nothing was done in our almost 2 year engagement. I was upset because my best friend put all this effort in and DH's brother put nothing into it. In the end, it didn't really matter, no one remembered his speech anyway

I wouldn't worry. I have found with speeches at the weddings I've been too, the Best Man talks about his experiences with the groom and at the end throws in a short little thing about how happy he is his friend found someone.
My MOH barely know my FH because I know her from college, and we live in different states. She's met him maybe 3xs. The speech she writes is going to be geared more towards me and I'm totally cool with that.

best man speech - Long Island Weddings

At my best friend's wedding I was her MOH and I barely knew her husband, but I wrote a heartfelt speech and tried to incorporate as much as I could about what I did know about him into it. Then his brother who was the BM got up and had NOTHING prepared and said 'Uhhh ... Yeah, what she said. Congratulations, guys'. We both got the same amount of applause.

I too have BM worries when it comes to not only the speech but overall behavior. He is my FH brother and I love him to death and he is close with FH but he is completely opposite personalities from either of us. He smokes pot all day, every day, and when he drinks, it's to excess. We are very concerned about his speech and plan to have a long discussion about it with him and set some light rules (don't smoke weed before church, wait to drink after speeches). Nightmare.

best man speech - Long Island Weddings

I'm in the same situation with the Best man. I met him maybe 4-5x in the 5 years I'm with FH. I'm not really concerned about the speeches bc I don't really care too much if he incorporates me in his speech. My MOH is my sis and I know she'll do a great job. I'm more concerned about the Best man actually being a good Best man for FH. He always seems to be busy when FH tries to plan something but they're childhood best friends so I try to stay out of it. As long as FH is happy with him then I'm ok.
