So, I have found THE dress for me, it's Maggie Sottero's Shirley, I've attached a crappy cell phone picture. It's funny how different it looks on a real person vs. their stock pic. Anyway, I am debating on ordering it at Burtons, Lillette's or Wedding Center in Commack. Any experiences regarding alterations, etc. at these locations? Also, Helen's in Commack is having a trunk show soon, I wonder if I'll get a percentage off if I order from there? Thanks!
I ordered my dress at Burton's and so far have had a wonderful experience. My dress should be in in September. They do not charge for the brides alterations.

was this b/c your BMs are ordering from their too?? I went there a month or so ago looking for bridal gown and they said alterations cost $. i forgot what the cap was tho...

I wish I knew that! I got my dress and the BM dress from the Wedding Center of Commack - Luckily they cap bridal alterations at $200 - but then they charge for the bustle separately - that was another $150. Then I had to pay for the cups (2 in each :( )
So I'm looking at about $440 in alterations!!!! SUCH a bummer!!!

I've heard awful awful stories from the Wedding Center in Commack! Not only that but I tried to make an appt to go there... the lady on the phone said no appt was necessary. OK great. I call back the following day to get the address and that lady was NASTY!! telling me I needed an appt and when I told her the other lady told me I didn't need an appt... instead of appologizing like she should have she just got nastier and then eventually she HUNG UP ON ME!!!!
Personally I wouldn't step foot in that store. I'd never give them my business after that!

No. She told me there was no cost for alterations on my dress. There is a cost for bustle, hollow to hem and any extra's (i.e. buttons). There is a $55 cap on BM alterations.

I called around and found out that apparently Maggie Sottero requires a base price for some of their dresses, this one included. Which means I guess I'm trying to find the best, least expensive alterations?
Seriously, there are just too many decisions when it comes to planning a wedding.

Lillette's alterations cap at $295, and then $15-20 per bustle point (depending on button or ribbon).

I just ordered my Maggie from Helen's Bridal in Commack. They're really nice and helpful there. They threw in the veil which was $300. I believe it's $150 or $175 for a bustle. I have to check on the alterations though.

I am ordering my maggie from Lillettes and I've only had great experiences with them.
IMO I would never order from The Wedding Center...I was just there this weekend and they really seem like skeezy slimy salesmen to me...i wouldn't trust them.

I knew I wanted to order my dress from a shop that had a recommended seamstress since alterations are so important. I took my price quote of $250 less from RK to the shop, and they matched the price. Many shops will do this, it benefits them to make a sale rather than lose you to one of the bigger stores. So you end up with a good price and smaller shop service.

wedding center ..ehhhh had the worst experience there! they will give you a great price but not worth it IMO you can find just as good as a price somewhere else i agree with helens....liz is SUCH a sweetheart there! i ordered my BM dresses there bridal elegance in commack also will give you a good price
i try and talk everyone down.... what you should do is call wedding center and see what price they can give you....they will do it over the phone.....and then call somewhere you had a good experience with and see if they can match of come close
