I'd say Ikea.

Yup, Ikea for furniture. Linen N Things has great curtains and window treatments, too.

Good luck with your new place!

I live in an apartment & I saw no difference as to where i bought my furniture (Fortunoff's etc)
Just be sure to measure your space & the, let's say, couch you like, and what wall it will go on etc.

Yes totally agree, but the key is to MEASURE- make sure what you buy will FIT.

I tell you- I LOVE target- I do alot of shopping there, as well as IKEA, Pier 1 and Bed, Bath & Beyond.

For Furniture, I ordered through North Carolina Furniture company.

Ditto! We bought regular sized furniture. Just measure your entrance way and walls, and you'll be fine.

If you buy stuff at Ikea...I would be careful as to what you buy there. I have had alot of problems with furnitures quality that I have bought there. If you buy any entertainment centers, make sure they arent made of pressed wood. After about 6 months or so the boards will tend to sag....I had an entertainment center that did this, and after 6 months it was junk.

As for couches, i would look at Seamans. You could get a package deal with tables and lamps for under $1000. At ikea they do not offer package deals on living room furniture and their couches are built as well or as comfortable as the furniture you would find at seamans or other stores. Look at Seamans and Levitts Clearance centers. You can find some really great stuff in there.

Danielle and I will be living in a basement apartment after our wedding in August and we already purchased a Kitchen table with a leave that butterflies out of the middle of the table for $513 with 6 chairs at Jc Penny. Look for the sales, especially around holiday weekends....Like Easter and Memorial day....

I agree with above - just measure your doorways and halls. I had a strange entrance way in my Astoria apartment - sharp turn as soon as you walked in and I still was able to get my whole dining room set delivered (and it is pretty big!). I didn't have any problems getting in any of my other furniture (although some pieces were a pain).

Also, a lot of couches and stuff come in apartment size sofa. I know I bought my family room furniture at Macys and the set I bought had a sofa, apartment sofa and loveseat. The apartment sofa size is in between the two. I bought that in place of the loveseat in my house...
