best time to go dress shopping?

I am a teacher and wanted to go dress shopping during the week right after the holidays in the city... thought it would be fun to get up early, go to one place, get lunch, and then go to another appt...

my sister is my MOH and lives upstate and would have to take a day off (which she is willing to do), but she's coming down the week after for a bridal shower and suggested going the saturday before the shower (which is on a sunday) since she will be here anyway... but I thought maybe it may be way more crowded on a saturday, plus I thought if I didn't find anything on the original day during the week we could use that Sat for another dress shopping day if we needed to.

From your experience what would be better, Thursday or Saturday? FH told me that I shouldn't arrange my schedule around her schedule... what do you ladies think?

I went on a Saturday. I had an early morning (10:30) appt and it was fine, no one else was there very nice. Then I had a 1 pm appt and it was nuts!! 5 brides trying on dresses, had to wait for a mirror to be dis-occupied at times ugh!! Crazy!! I would stick to Thursday, a lot more relaxed if you can.

I went on a Saturday morning as early as I could to Davids and it wasn't too bad. Then I made other appts at bridal salons later that day and they were a little crowded. I went back mid-day on a Friday and I was the only one there! So I'd say midweek is definitely the way to go.

this! if you can't take off during the week, get the first appt they have... even if you have to wait a few weeks. totally worth it and you get personalized service!
