Should I try to hold him in my lap (hes usually good but its usually short trips) and make a few stops or keep him in his crate and make a stop? Hmmmmmmm.....

We put Bama in the crate - he's safer that way.

I think this is the best way also. Hopefully he doesn't freak.

whatever you are comfortable with. Bailey rides in the back seat now (driving from NY to VA and then VA to GA) but when she was an itty bitty pup, I held her in my lap.

we did a 6 hour with reggie in his crate with lots of pillows to keep him from sliding when it was bumpy. He threw up once but I think it was becuase my dh gave him beef jerky He was panting alot though but this was during the summer so I dont think you'll have that problem. Also make sure you bring some water from home so that he can keep drinking the same water.

we drive back and forth to dc (about a 6 hour drive one way)at least once a month and feebi (6 month old boston terrier) always comes with us. we have an suv so we usually fold the back seats down and lay out a blanket with her favorite toys and she chills back there. She loves it. She also sits up front on my lap a lot too but if she gets antsy she will go in the back and play with her toys. she is very well behaved.
if chewie is very used to his crate and likes being in there then I would say go for it but feebi loves to be able to roam free and be with us.

looks like im a bad mommy and i just let feebi do what she wants and dont worry if it is the safer option.
