Bethpage/Plainedge?

Anyone know anything about these areas and the school district? We saw a house yesterday that we liked. It's in Bethpage and it's Plainedge school. I'm just looking to get any feedback on the area before we make an offer. Thanks ladies.

I went to Plainedge School District. It is a pretty good school. FM me if you want specific info. I am not really sure what you are looking for.

I live in Bethpage but was in Plainedge schools up until 4th grade-then we went to private school-but I think they are good schools--it's not a huge district---You have FM!

Thank you for your help. I'm just looking to see if anyone feels that it's a bad school district. We decided to put an offer on the house, so we'll see what happens.

We too are looking and in that area as well, amongst others. We have researched and found that the school district- Plainedge is really good

Partial to Bethpage only because my sister is a teacher at the middle school there- she said the school district is very good and the kids are great!
Plus, a lot of the teachers who teach in her school grew up on Bethpage.

Re: Bethpage/Plainedge?

Bethpage schools are not the best, but Plainedege has a pretty good track record. And the only reason Bethpage gets knocked is because it is or used to be a civil service town.. most of the dad's are or were NYPD or NYFD so most of the 18 year old boys just went straight to the acadmies rather then college. So the schools are good and the sports are good but there college rate normally looks not the best. Plainedge has good schools now and their college rate is good. I grew up in the Plainedge school district but my brother and I didn't attened the John West or PHS we went to St. James and St. Anthonys because when my parents bought there house in the 70's John West had all crazy older teachers and they were not up to date or good, now they have much younger teachers that are very fresh.
I know last time I was in town though there was another budget vote because Plainedge is growing so much they are thinking of combining the school districts and having all the high school kids just attend Bethpage Hs. My neighbor is real ****ed about that since my old neighborhood is over by John West and Richmond Field.

What area are you looking into?? What part of Plainedge. Since my brother and I are older know many of the people selling homes are friends' parents homes. My own parents are selling our home this April. And the two houses around us recently sold to very young couples.

In my opionion it's a great area to grow up and the community turns itself around every 30 years or so and gets younger couples in which is what it is doing right now so you won't have to worry about your kids having friends on your street. Also I suggest it because I communted into John Jay College of Criminal Justice for four years in NYC and my parents both commuted for many years and the Bethpage train station is pretty good, they have ample parking till about 9 and the ronkomoma line runs pretty frequently and ontime unless someone jumps. But even if you don't like the Bethpage one you can still drive to Seaford and catch a train/

Re: Bethpage/Plainedge?

I was a leave replacemnt at Bethpage HS years ago...Kids wise...they were great...its a small school as well...which makes things a bit easier...but the Principal is the biggest Biatch I have met...I had a friend that went to school there as well and she was hated then as well...granted she'll be gone by the time your kids are there...

I think Bethpage had a rough time in the early 90's when Grumman left...and had to redifine itself...

oh and DH went to Charles Campaign Elem School and has fond memories of it - his house was in Plainview and the whole family talks about the house on Sylvia Road 20 years since they have left
