I've also heard of skipping the whole garter-bo-k toss and in honor of your mother, say a brief speech and then give your bo-k to her. I wonder if I can do this without crying. I think it's a nice way to honor your mother if she isn't walking you down the aisle and you are not dancing with her.

I've also heard of giving the bo-k to the couple that's been married the longest.

Re: Better Idea
Most of my guests are married so I am doing a bouquet dance instead. The DJ/band calls all the married couples to the dance floor and plays a song. As it goes on they tell those marries less than a day (you and DH) to leave the floor. Then less than a year, 5 years 10 etc. the couple who was married the longest finishes the song and gets the bouquet.

This is what I am doing too!
I also saw an 08er post that she gave every single girl at her wedding a rose to honor them.

Re: Better Idea
our RH elegance package includes 'a rose handed to each lady' as they enter the ballroom so we are skipping the bo-k thing all together
