BEWARE OF FREE CREDIT REPORT SCAM

I am so F*IN pissed, i just checked my bank account and this week i had withdrawls taken out and had no idea where this was from.

It shows the name of the company. One is credit diagnosis, another is your savings club which i never have signed up for and NEVER would sign up for these things, another one is triple advantage and the other is mini credit report.

I started calling the numbers bc luckily next to their names there is a number. I looked up one site and instead of being taken to a site i get a site where its complaints board and theres other ppl who all say this has happened and not one of them signed up for these things. They signed up for free credit report.com and then all of a sudden they got these other charges. Looks like they automatically sign you up for all these other things too. I just got off the phone with one company to cancel the membership bc i never signed up for it and found out that yes they do sign you up for other companies too that charge you and will AUTOMATICALLY bill the CC you used to get your free credit report

credit diagnosis took out $30, and for some reason took out $1.00 the following day. Triple advantage took $15, mini credit report took $12. Then i have ALL these other $1.00 changes. Total they took out $61 and to many ppl they do this monthly. Its just annoying since i didnt sign up for any of these things for them to take any money at all

sorry that happened to you. I saw something like that on TV last night and DH was warning me about this kind of stuff.

Those credit monitoring services are all crap. I have heard about freecreditreport.com. I just get the free one you're allotted now once a year - almost time to get my three new ones since I got them last sept. hope you get your money back!

its such BS and the worst part is that i didnt even have my credit checked recently for this to happen right now. I did this a while ago. THe freaking guy asked me 'so is there any reason you want to cancel your membership' YEAH I NEVER F*IN SIGNED UP FOR IT' how does any company have the right to sign you up for other companies and give you CC information and these other companies are able to bill you even though you never signed up for it.

see thats what i did, i did the one you get once a year and i did it a while ago. Thank you very much, from the complaints site it looks like nobody is getting their money back but i hope they stop charging me.

I ended getting signed up for something too on freecreditreport.com

I was so friggin livid and they gave me such a hard time when I called up.

Thats how they make all their money, unfortunately

ugh! how freakin rediculous... isnt it amazing what companies do and then you have to spend precious time just to undo what should have never been done int he first place... i bet alot bank on the consumers who dont check their CC bills and get away with it....

I think its freecreditreport.com where they charge you a monthly membership fee after you have a trial and alot forget to cancel before the trial is up... but ive never heard anything like what happened to you!

thats horrible, and even more messed up if they give you a hard time when you call. I do have to say that the guy i got was actually nice and just said ok i will cancel it right now and gave me my confirmation number for the cancellations

Yeah, the guy kept telling me the advantages of remaining enrolled and wouldn't give me a confirm.

I couldn't get my money back

yeah its one thing if you forget to cancel your membership which alot of ppl do but this is so horrible. Why would anybody sign up for 4 different credit report companies that all give you the same thing

I couldn't remember the annualcreditreport.com site a few months ago so I tried freecreditreport.com but it does tell you that it is going to charge you, etc...so I clicked out and never went back in... Honestly, it was in tiny tiny letters and it was like a flash but I just happened to catch it.

Denise, I'm sorry....it's so frustrating and difficult to get them to cancel anything.

https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp is the ONLY legit site. They are the offical site that grants you the 1 free report per year from each of the 3 bureaus that you are entitled to.

This same thing happened to me! Fitness clubs and savings clubs were on my cc and they were taking anywhere from $9 to $30. And one of them did take $12 and then later that same day took another $1 out. It was probably the same company that tried to scam you. I even asked my bank if their would be any repercussions towards the company and they said there was pretty much nothing they could do!

I got completely screwwed like this too, Denise. And I was pissed because I am usually GREAT about spotting the fine print - NOT this time. I signed up in June for both me and Joe and I got charged for August and July before I caught it - and one charge for each of us. I called the cancel and she started trying to lecture me and I SCREAMED at her that it is ILLEGAL to offer the 'Triple Advantage' to New York state residents (in fact, it says so right on their website - go look at the home page and scroll to the bottom) and that I'm an attorney and she had BETTER cancel both mine and Joe's immediately so that I could move on to my next phone call of filing a claim with American Express. She cancelled both of ours immediately and I plan to call Amex tomorrow and file a complaint with the BBB and potentially the NYS Atty General.
