Okay...for anybody who has not yet sent them out or better yet, paid for them. If you are banking on that 15% to say No....DO NOT SEND OUT SAVE THE DATES....Well maybe only to Out Of Towner's. My experience with them is as follows:
EVERYONE HAS SAVED THE DATE AND IS COMING TO MY WEDDING.....not kidding!
Mind you, I have not received all of my RSVP's just yet, but it's not looking good on my end in the 'No' category.
This is just a friendly posting to anybody who is expecting a set of amount of 'No's'

Re: Beware of Save The Dates
By the way, I love my STD's. I created them myself on vistaprint.com with my awesome engagement photos.....but if I knew then, what I know now, I would have only sent them to the OOT 'ers. JMHO.

Re: Beware of Save The Dates
Didn't you send them a Save the Date because you wanted them at your wedding???

Re: Beware of Save The Dates
um, you're ONLY supposed to send save the dates to the people you absolutely want and need those people at the wedding!!!
i did not send any to people from work, friends from college, etc. because i needed to see who i would be able to invite once the family was accounted for. you cannot send an STD and then not invite them to the wedding.

Re: Beware of Save The Dates
We ordered just 15 save the dates and sent them to people who live far away (would need to fly in for the wedding) just in case they needed time for travel arrangements.
We sent a link to our wedding website to everyone else we were definitely going to invite.

Re: Beware of Save The Dates
the no rsvp's do come in and come in towards the end.
Its funny because the whole time i was planning, i was SOOOO afraid of going over our minimum. Last minute before doing our invites, certain people were not invited. Made me feel a little bit better about not going over my minimum but still was a little worried and then got worried about maybe even being under our minimum. Well let me say that i jinxed myself hahaha. At first I was getting tons of yes responses. At one point my count was something like 200 yes and 17 no. Then all of a sudden all the no responses came in and I even ended up being under my minimum guess not inviting a whole group of people screwed us over. We weren't under by alot but in the end it worked out great because they threw in a bunch of things and i was happy with those things.

Re: Beware of Save The Dates
I just sent to the immediate family and out of towners. People will say no when the invitations go out so don't worry

Haha. I've heard this can happen . . . . Good luck, and in the end, the more the merrier (but more expensive, I know!)

Re: Beware of Save The Dates
I sent STD's to all our guests a year before the wedding and still half of my family decided no RSVP no.
you are right..that is why i only sent them to relatives and close friends...not the entire guest lists...I new it may change come time to send the actual invitations...!

Re: Beware of Save The Dates
I sent STDs to MOST people on my list..and I still have a bunch of no's.
A whole group of my cousins got the STDs and planned their bachelor/bachelorette parties (for the weekend in Vegas and Mexico) for the weekend of my wedding, even though their wedding isn't until November. The people who want to come will and the people who don't or can't, won't.

Re: Beware of Save The Dates
I too have some regret for sending out STD's... Although I do want everyone (mostly ) to come, I would not invite some of the people now. I am hoping because my wedding is Thanksgiving weekend a few dozen cant come (And by those I mean people I have never met before... ehhh hemm... FMIL's friends)... It's getting to be so expensive.

Re: Beware of Save The Dates
I wish I had your problem because even though we sent out STDs, we are under our mininum. My RH is not throwing in anything extra either...just splitting the difference with us BTW you get most no responses towards the end or after the response date so you might still be OK!!!

Re: Beware of Save The Dates
I'm handing out STDs at the engagement party, which is just for family and bridal party. Hopefully this will be beneficial in the end - cause everyone invited to the engagement party is definitely invited to the wedding!

Awww...I didn't think of it that way. Also, the venue we chose, nobody from our neighborhood has gotten married there yet, so a lot of people are curious to see it. Ah, whatever happens happens. It's out of my hands now!
