BEWARE WHEN SIGNING THE MARRIAGE LICENSE!!(UPDATE AT BOTTOM)
THis is what I went through today. I don't want anyone to go through this.
I had to go to the municipal building since we got a letter about our marriage certiciate. I had to get a duplicate and I need to bring a 25.00 money order. Why did i have to get a duplicate....THE RABBI HAD THE WITNESS SIGN IN THE WRONG SPOT!!!! me and dh signed on the same line. the rabbi says that the witness signed in the wrong spot. dh father said that the witness signed where the rabbi told him to. now we have to get ahold of everyone so that the license could be resigned. dh parents aren's happy with this as they're the ones that paid for the rabbi. dh is aggravated like me. hopefully by the end of november we'll have the official certificate. this has been the only stressful thing in the planning.
MAKE SURE YOUR OFFICIANT HAS THE WITNESS SIGN IN THE CORRECT SPOT

Question. I assume you are referring to the civil license and NOT the ketubah. I was not aware that a civil license required witnesses. Whats funny is that on my parents' ketubah, it appears as if my mother married the Rabbi.

the license that the state gives u. our ketubah is fine. until its signed, 'we're not offically married in the state of ny'. do i get to do my wedding again
