BH or the real deal??? How do you know the difference???

OK ... so this has been going on since about 2AM .... not really regular, intense at times.

I called the dr who said not to panic (yeah, right!) until they're 5 min apaprt, but how do you know if its something to worry about or not?

mine told me to watch for frequency. if they are coming close together for an extended period of time.

also - if the intensity seems to 'radiate' from just the central area. The BH usually are centralized.

Did your doctor give you any idea what to watch for?

When are you due?

I know that some girls have very strong BH at regular intervals. I wouldn't panic but I would call the doctor back and insist on coming into the office.

The dr said that unless my water breaks and/or contractions are 5 minutes apart, that I don't have to panic. Just breathe & relax! Easy for him to say!!! :)

Michele ... 11/14. I've got about 3 weeks left or so. Normally, I wouldn't even think anything b/c I'm sure I'll be late, but because I'm still doing work in the house & AM HOPING for a late delivery, It would just be my luck to go early!

jen ..
Thanks for bumping that thread for me.

christine, all I was told (that I can remember ) was that BH cx feel like monthly cramps.
I didnt think anything of the contractions I was getting (thought it was just normal little pains, I expected contractions to be EXCRUCIATING pains) and didnt realize I was in labor till my water broke.
So Im a bad example to go to for this.

Im so excited for you !!

Make sure you are drinking A LOT of water because that will help ease even regular contractions.

Let us know how you are feeling....And I was hoping all 3 of us go on the same day....

Michele .... wouldn't that be funny! 3 LIW November babies on the same day! Thank God we're not delivering at the same hospital!!!

Good idea about the water ... I probably have been drinking a little less these days. I have to keep on top of it.

It was pretty much status quo for the rest of the day. Contractions on and off all afternoon & early evening, but nothing regular. I'm not getting crazy about it, but I am worried about not being finished with the house b/f the baby comes!

I was able to sleep through the night (A MIRACLE!!) but I feel more tired today than yesterday! Oh, well .... its good practice for after the baby comes!!!

BH would stop if you lay down to rest or drank a few glasses of water..the real thing may slow down at some point but would not stop.

The real thing gets longer and STRONGER as the day/night goes on.

Rest as much as you can...invite OTHERS to come ovver and finish up your preparations. You are supposed to SUPERVISE them...try not to do the work
Come labor time- your work will be HARDER

Re: BH or the real deal??? How do you know the difference???

phyl ... I'm not even up to the preparations part of getting ready!! I'm still having work done in the house ... a brand new kitchen & laundry room in the garage. My kitchen is now in the baby's room which is also full of boxes from items we had to pack up! Once the kitchen is finished (Hopefully by the end of the week), then we can get the baby's room cleared out & have the house cleaned. Then painted.

THEN, I can finally arrange for furniture to be delivered!

Please ... no labor dust, ladies .... I couldn't bear to go into labor with such a mess in my house & my babies room not ready!!!

Maybe all this stress is causing those BH!! I'm tring to keep calm!
