BIB TIPS !

BIB TIPS !

Moms, lets share some BIB TIPS!

I've come to learn that BIBS are something you never 'think about', but they become such a BIG part of every day life at one point, that you master certain habits and tips

I've already put BIBS into 'categories' and my MIL gave me one good tip:
'Emergency Last Minute BIB saver method' LOL: This is very helpful when you are OUT and only have one or 2 bibs and dont want to run out of clean bibs. The bibs that have the plastic backing, flip them over so that the plastic is on the FRONT (put it on backwards), so that the food will be easier to wipe off of the plastic and the baby wont have a yucky orange and green stained bib on for the rest of the day.

MY categories are:
-Drooly bibs - these are the small ALL TERRY CLOTH, cute and colorful bibs that you will put on the baby with an outfit just for him/her to drool on (mostly when teething). So I like these to be just drooly bibs. Of course, then my plans get messed up when my MIL feeds him with a drooly bib and gets it all stained and now its a MEAL BIB !

-Meal bibs -
PLASTIC BIBS - these have grown to be my FAVORITES !!! I LOVE THEM !! They are BIG, reach down to John Anthony's waste, they have that pocket flap to catch falling food. and they are easy to wipe, wash and clean. LOVE THEM. I have about 4 of them. I keep 2 at home, and use 2 to travel with.
-The other meal bibs are the ones with the plastic backing that I mentioned above.

Hope my babbling helped.
Anyone have more tips ?? JA is drooling puddles, those teeth must be ready to rip through! I changed 3 bibs and 4 shirts today, that he DRENCHED !

Anna! YOu are so funny!

All I can say is...I TOTALLY agree w/everything you said about BIBS. I used to have a BIB addiction w/Paul, until he decided that he's not wearing bibs anymore. He began pulling them off around 9-10 mos. old, so I've just had to **** it up and use Shout and other stain removing detergents.

But before that happened, I was LOVING the plastic bibs...my Mom would actually make fun of me...she called them Paul's 'smocks'...she literally would laugh at me when I fed him b/c the darn bib would cover his whole body! LOL! But, it works better than any other kind of bib out there, and when the baby is just learning how to eat w/a spoon, they are invaluable!

LOL

A few more bib tips:

Try to get the ones with the terry front and plastic backing. They drool through them and then the shirt is wet so fast sometimes.

If they have a velcro closure, close it before you throw it in the hamper. otherwise the velcro sticks to other clothes in the wash.

If you have a drawer full of bibs like mine, with about 30 or 35 bibs...and you have a child like mine - 7 months and teething....30 bibs is not a huge amount of bibs at all.

Lastly, DH's dont think about coordinating bibs with outfits like we do.

Re: BIB TIPS !

LOL, Liz !!! About coordinating bibs! I LOVE TO!
John puts an Xmas bib on him on Easter, it was the first one he found! LOL.

and I get SSOOO annoyed when someone else winds up feeding him and messes up a cute bib! Yesterday he had a cute drooly bib on, and my MIL fed him and as shes feeding him (very sloppily might I add ) she WIPES the carrots/sweet potatoes off his face with his bib!!
Now WHYYYYYYY would you do that ??? I only had 2 bibs with me, she taught me the tip above, but there she is DESTROYING my favorite drooly bib and it was a sopping orange mess!! Why wouldnt you wipe all the slime with a napkin and try to keep the bib as clean as possible. We were out traveling ALL DAYYYYY so I had no bib for the rest of the day, and he was wetting his shirts with drool... and she works in daycare.. thought she would have KNOWN these things !

OK, Im over it !

Re: BIB TIPS !

Anna....I am HYSTERICAL b/c my Mom has done the SAME thing to me w/Paul's bibs....I NEVER wiped his face (while eating) using a bib - always a wet paper towel or a burp cloth.

And, yes...I got your email....I will call you this weekend to chat

Re: BIB TIPS !

I'm so there with you on that!!!!

I can totally see DH doing the same thing with an Xmas bib too.

Hello? The nice bibs are for coordinating and going out. If hes getting a bib to sit around in the exersaucer, please put one of the faded hand me downs on please.

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

and my stomach CRINGES when someone is using the wrong bib or not feeding him as neatly as I do

I do think its cute when they have food all over them. but Not EVERY TIME !

Re: BIB TIPS !

Every morning I wash John Anthony's face with a warm cloth. When he sees my hand and the cloth, he turns his face away, its the cutest thing!
He's like 'OH NO HERE SHE COMES !! PLEASE ! I JUST WOKE UP !!!'

Re: BIB TIPS !

Thanks for the tips. I have to make sure I stock up on plastic bids and but the 'good' ones under lock and key!
It is like when Dh uses one of my good, decorative towels for a showerr. He has since learned that leson

Have any of you used those disposeable bibs? The kids at my job have them and we love them. For feeding time that is, not good for drooling

Re: BIB TIPS !

just starting with bibs-
I kept two 'eaths best' bibs for Juliannes more colorful food: carrots, squash, etc.
I do NOT use the bub to wipe her face! I use a dampened baby washcloth or Bounty.
Why wipe the face with a bib?/
and immeditaly after use I put some soap on it and water...last nights is soaking still!
I would hate to see her 'PRETTY' bibs ruined! especially the ones embroidered with her name!

I guess I'll keep them under lock and key until she wears them OUTSIDE as drooly bibs
