you don't, but I bid at the last minute to keep this from happening. i watch it then bid with 25 seconds left, using the auction open in two internet explorer pages & refreshing the page, watching it, then bidding first at the last few seconds.

I decide what is the highest price that I would be willing to pay for an item. I will bid and bid again until it gets to that price. I have walked away from many auctions be cause there was a bidding war and if it was the seller bidding against me...then they lost out!!

Jennbaby, that's what I do also. I was able to snatch a TiVo from someone with 15 sec left in the auction. It felt soooooo good, they never knew what hit them!

Re: bidding on ebay

like everyone else said, bidding at the last second is the way to go! i hate when people get into bidding wars like days before the end of the auction. HELLO! stop increasing the price for no reason! even if you win that little bidding war, someone can easily come in and snatch it at the last minute. so don't waste your money, wait til the end

Why dont you email the seller and see if he is going to relist the item....
