Nope, I've never had a dog before let alone a lab but DH has so he's teaching the both of us!! You're right tho, she is hyper, I learned that real fast!!! And she is a quick learner, I'm already in love!!

Thanks for coming over!! I can't believe how long she slept while you were there and then how active she was after you left!!! She went out again when Kevin got home and was pretty good after that, except she wanted to play still and we needed to go to bed!!

My heart just melted when I saw her pics. She is precious!

We'll be getting labs too, here are some of the names we had for girls:

Emma (my fav)
Morgan
Belle
Layla
Sunny (for a yellow lab)

My Tucker looked just like her with a white patch on his chest. The best thing you can do with a Lab is show her who's boss. Be the alpha dog, use short phrases consistently to train her, and have training sessions constantly with food rewards and positive reinforcement. Then wean her off the food rewards because Labs are prone to becoming obese. They will eat whatever you put in front of them.

Also, have her checked by the vet for eye and hip problems. Labs are prone to that too. I read that dog food with too much protein while they're growing makes the hip dysplasia situation worse.

edited to add:

I get my information from 'Labrador Retrievers for Dummies.' Yes, I am totally nerdy that I have this book, and don't even own a Lab. Yet.

Thanks for the tips Greeny, and the name suggestions; I actually like Emma for when/if we have a daughter. DH has a lot of experience with dogs so he's teaching me how to train her, she already knows he's the alpha. She doesn't always eat right away when we feed her, this morning she just wanted to play instead of eat. I thought about picking up that book, I'm a dork too!!

SO CUTE!!!!
I love the name Kasey, but I'm biased. I had a rottweiler named 'Casey.'
