I am not sure what to do. I was going to get married at the hall but it is costing me alot. Then I talked to the priest and he is charging so much as 'donation'. It is comming out to about 700.00. That is outragous but I have little choise right now. If anyone has any ideas or advice let me know. it is on a Sun morning so.... Gulp HELP

I am getting married at the Church and it's costing me almost $700 as well. I'm surprised you were able to get an actual priest to perform your wedding ceremony outside of a church. Could that be why he's charging you so much? I mean, what I'm paying for is using the Church and it's services. Is this a family priest? Maybe you can get a deacon or reverand to perform your ceremony cheaper. Why are you not getting married in the Church?

Its a Sunday morning. It was the cheapest day I could find. Im on a budget. Thet dont hace a church available untiil after 3::00pm. The prieat is from a new age church. The guy from the hall said he was good. Who knows he seemed nice. I hope this is legal!!!

I don't know if it will make you feel better, but we've had rabbi quotes varying from $500-$800.
We were able to negotiate the $800 rabbi down to $650, but in the end still didn't book him... May be try negotiating?

Don't worry about whether it is being legal. I'm sure your hall would not recommend someone if they weren't. If you aren't sure, I'd definately do more research. I'm going to try to find the vendor on this board who is an officiant. be right back!

Priests are only fron Catholic Churches. Is this guy a minister? And are you being married by someone whose religion you don't even know? (ie: new age church)I think sometimes people concentrate on the party and don't give much thought to their ceremony. Sunday morning weddings are not typically performed in a Catholic Church because of the normal sunday mass schedule. You can have a minister or justice of the peace marry you at your hall if you perfer. I know that my Church doesn't charge you for your ceremony based on time or day. It was a $500 donation. And when you consider that you are spending so much on everything else why should you not spend a bit on the ceremony. Perhaps you should consider more than just cost here. If you are even a bit concerned about the ceremony being legal ask this person for his paperwork.

our church donation is 500. that doesnt include the organist. and I had to put 100 dollars down which will be returned to me pending, i arrive on time and things run smoothly. i know its so stupid.
since we are on this whole priest thing and church, bri and i are going to call a priest that did all his sacraments and ask him to come do our wedding. what would something like this cost???

My church is usually $300 if you are not a parishioner in that church but since I have volunteered for the last 14 years and are a parishioner it is costing my $250 (that includes the organist). My old pastor is coming conduct the mass and there is no extra charge for him. Calling another priest to come and perform the ceremony should not cost anything but I would give a little 'donation' to the church that he is involved with now.
