Big Question to stay or not to stay.........?

I live 45 minutes from where I am getting married. My ceremony starts at 6pm. Should i stay in a hotel or not?

Honest opinions and experience dealing with this would help. Soooo confused

Stay in a hotel - I think it gives you a better chance to enjoy the day and relax - if there is such a thing.

Stay in a hotel before or after the wedding?

Before - probably not necessary

After - sure, why not!

I'm at least 45 minutes from my church, but I'm getting ready at home. Less of a chance of forgetting things and I'll be more comfortable.

ditto - although i am only 5 minutes from my church - i feel more comfortable at home. and if you forget something, can you send someone rushing back to your house to pick up what you forgot? jmo.

it all depends on you.

i'll most likely stay at a hotel the night before just because my apartment is cramped and i'd rather a little mini vacation before the big day.

Personally I'd stay at home. The thought of leaving something crucial behind is nerve-wracking. Plus, you don't want to cause someone to spend an hour and a half (round trip) getting whatever could be left behind.

I had a 6pm ceremony and the entire bridal party stayed at a hotel the night before and the night of. It was so much better than trying to rush out to LI and worrying about running into traffic. I wouldn't have done it any other way. Are you planning on taking pics before your ceremony?

I didn't stay in the hotel the night before. I would much rather get ready at my own house. The night of we stayed with everyone at the hotel and it was definitely worth it. We partied all night long and got to say good bye to everyone the next day. Plus the house was a mess between me and all the girls getting ready that morning. Who wants to come home to complete chaos?

We had hair start at 6am and we were done with hair and makeup around 12:30ish. We took pictures until 5 and then we took a couple more at the hall before the ceremony started. You'll be surprised how fast the day goes.

I live an hour away from where I am getting married...I'm gonna spend my last night at parents home...it will be my last night with my parents (even if i move out by then)...for sentimental reasons and also because myhair stylist and bridal party all live in suffolk. I can deal with the hour long ride in the limo...will give me some time to actually absorb the whole day :)

i am in the same situation..church is 1 hr away. At first was thinking of staying there the night before so i wouldnt have to sit in the limo for an hour but who cares i will just have a mimosa or 2. I couldnt imagine not leaving from the house i grew up in.

if possible i would stay home, i look forward to getting ready for my big day at home, not in a strange place. but if you don't think you can swing it then stay at the hotel, alot of people do and it works out for them, it's all about what you feel you want that day!
