Biggest abuse of a wedding guest list!

We are invited to DH's coworker's wedding. The couple came to our wedding. They're pretty cool people.

Anyway, they asked for our address so they could send us the invite. We got our invite almost 2 weeks ago.

And, yesterday we received a CHAIN LETTER from them. And, it's the kind that if you're not going to participate, you have to mail it back to them within 6 days (because they included something in it).

I'm glad they're getting such good use out of their wedding guest list!

Are they in junior high? THat's ridiculous and you'd think they'd be embarassed!! Why do you have to mail it back if you're not participating?

It has a lottery ticket in it. It's this thing where if we don't want to participate, we have to send the ticket back so they can send it to someone else.

ah, good question! (I usually do forget THE POINT )

There are 2 people on the letter. We don't know the #1 person, but the coworker is the #2 person.

DH is supposed to send one lotto ticket to the #1 person.

Then, he is supposed to move the coworker's name to the #1 position, and put himself in the #2 position and mail the letter with a lotto ticket to 5 more people within 6 days. 'if it works, DH should receive 30 lotto tickets in the next 2 weeks'

That's obnoxious.

Who has that kind of free time?

They are treating their guest list like some kind of marketing list.

YES YES AND YES!!! I just showed the letter to DH last night (trying really hard not so show my COMPLETE DISTASTE)

So, as he was reading it, he was like, 'I don't even understand this.'

It made me mad because either way, we HAVE to do something. Either participate or mail it back. Let's just add more stuff on to the pile of crap that I already have to do everyday.

And, now I am wondering where else my address is being sent...

Re: Biggest abuse of a wedding guest list!

Oh yeah, that happened to us. FH's cousin's husband was forced by his boss to send everyone who attended his wedding a form letter telling us about his company's services. How Tacky!!!

Re: Biggest abuse of a wedding guest list!

That is kinda rude that they expect you to be buying lotto tickets and passing htem on. Yes, you may be getting thirty of them in return, but still its a litle nervy. Poor taste in my opinion.

Re: Biggest abuse of a wedding guest list!

This sounds like a pyramid scheme thinly veiled as a chain letter. Is this their financial plan? Winning the lottery?

I believe this is illegal.
