Bill Levkoff #966 -- HELP

Bill Levkoff #966 -- HELP

I wanted to bustle the dress and cut the sash to floor length, but my bridal shop wont cut the sash. She said theres too much of a chance that they wont come out symetrical Anyway, she instead suggested doing this other thing with the sash where its almost folded over and pinned (kind of like GothBride's sash on her wedding dress). I'm not thrilled with the look to be honest.

I think I've seen this dress where the sash itself is bustled the botton is pinned in several places. I cant find any pics tho Anyone know what I'm talking about, have pics, or any other suggestions for this dress??

i wore this dress last year - we bustled it and cut the sashes to floor length - we got them at Bridal Garden in Bethpage - they looked great!

I dont think I have any pics of the bottom - if i can find it, i'll dig it out for you and put it on and take a pic, lol.

this is what I would suggest- we ordered style # 557 (same as 966 but in taffeta) and Phyllis at Bridal Elegance told me she usually cuts the sash & train on them. So that's good to know that she's had some practice with it!! She said it's included in the $55 alteration cap. Which I was so happy to hear, I wouldn't want the girls to have to pay extra for it. Try bringing them someplace else.

I'd take them somewhere else, except alterations are already included in their price I dont want to make the girls pay anything more.

that really stinks!! Maybe you should print some pics from LIW showing the dress with the alterations that you'd want just to show them that it can be done, and so they can see exactly how you'd want it?? They really should be able to accomodate how you want it altered. I hope it works out for you!!

My girls are wearing 966 also, we are not cutting the train on the dress at all. what we are going to do is instead of bustling under we are going to bustle from the top (just under the knot for the sash) and pin a broach over the hook. With the sash we are going to hook n eye under the triangle in a triangle and fold the tails under and hook them, so they will stay triangular instead of straight , I hope this helped.

I'm so confused -- I dont think I follow what you're saying (although it sounds like it might be something I should consider). Do you have a pic or can you re-explain it to me

I dont
ok, we are pulling the dress up from about the bottom of their butts to the waist to bustle instead of lifting from the bottom. Then we will cover the hook (since it will be on the outside of the dress) witha broach (keep in mind this is the dress part, we are not cutting the train at all)
For the tails on the sash there will be hooks on each corner...and the eyes will be above that in a triangle opposite the hooks....then the tails will be folded up inside out to hook them up off the floor

Let me see if i cant figure out how to kind of draw you a picture in PS

ok, blue dots is the way the dress will bustle, bottom dot to top dot

Green dots are on the corners of the sash...red dots is where the green dots hook in
HTH

Sandy -- didnt mean for it to come out like that I actually LOVED your dress! I thought it looked stunning on you. Its just not the look I'm going for for the BM dresses -- I really wanted their sashes to hang the entire night.
Sorry for wording it badly

Sandy, Jennifer is a very cool poster who wouldnt speak bad of anyone. I truly beleive she just worded it wrong.
She was trying to say that she has her heart set on a specific look for the bms (hanging sash, dress bustled) and the bridal shop could only do the bustle another certain way (close to your dress). She's just frustrated the bridal salon wont work with her

and Sandy, your dress was beautiful!!
