biological clock is ticking

he said to me the other night, for the past 5 months he thinks his biological clock is ticking!? he just turned 31 last month and back in March one one our good friends had his first child. They are the first in our group of friends to have a kid.

I was stunned because before got married we agreed we wanted to wait until we got a house. I am so confused. I told him hurry and get a house!

The new baby has given him baby fever. If you still are not ready then have a talk with him. He just may see your friend with the baby and feel like he wants this now before he is too old!!! 31 now but 48 at high school grad. 52 at college grad etc. He may feel like that is old looking at this way.

Have a talk with him. It may be a passing look how cute so and so's baby is and I want a baby!!

My FH just turned 31 and wants one also - soon, like a honeymoon baby! He always thought he would already be a dad by 30 so he wants to hurry up now. I told him lets wait a year or so. Michelle, do you want one now? People have said they want a house then a baby, and then along came baby and somehow it all works out!!!

i'm having this problem too - although it is my clock that keeps me awake at night. 10 more months until the wedding and then FH wants to wait another year. i'm already 30! he's only 27, hence the problem. tick tick tick tick tick......

I am 30 also and my DH will be 27 in October. He wants to wait until we can afford a house. That might not be for a few years. I think my clock is ticking. Will will wait a year and see. Maybe he will change his mind!

Welcome to my world. Everytime he sees a cute kid he says 'when do I get one:)'. And we're not even married yet (though we've lived together 2 years), PLUS he's only 25!!!

But, he has baby fever too, his best friend's wife just had a bambino. We're now thinking of going to grad school part-time and working for a while. We originally said 6-8 years for a baby, now we're thinking 2-3 (which means planning starts next year b/c we plan to adopt!). We'd love to wait to buy a place, but Brooklyn is so expensive I might be in menopause b/f we can buy a brownstone.

If you're not ready that's ok. He's very infatuated with the idea it sounds like. His clock may slow down as the friends baby gets older and turns 2!

dawnie.... my FH wants to wait until ALL of our student loans are paid off!!! i explain to him that if we wait too long, we will be debt-free but also childless. the worst part is he has absolutely no paternal instinct. he doesn't want a baby - he wants a 4-year old child who can understand him and answer simple questions. what an uphill battle i'm in for!!!

I think it's so cute he feels this way. The problem is I have epilepsy and when we decide to have kids it will always be high risk for me. I am not supposed to be under alot of stress (yah right), so I figure it would be less stressful to have a house before a kid. I will have to be monitored closely becausee I may have to come off my meds or change to another med. Also the med I am on can cause birth defects in children.
