I was going to do the butterfly until I saw a wedding on TV where the bride and groom opened the box for the butterflies to come out and they didnt bc they werent ALIVE! Could u imagine?? I thought it was such a cute idea but then that kind of scared me. Just thought I would let you know about this situation before you book them. As far as the birds, my friend did that and it was beautiful.

Re: BIRD OR BUTTERFLY RELEASE
I'm not doing it, but my future SIL did the butterfly release and I don't think it really showed that well in photos.
The best picture came from one of the butterflies landing on her daughters dress.

Re: BIRD OR BUTTERFLY RELEASE
I so wanted to do butterflies but then I put a post on this site and almost eeryone told me not to because they haveheard or seen horrible things happen to the butterflies. Either the butterflies dont fly or they go into shock when released. NO THANKS!!

Re: BIRD OR BUTTERFLY RELEASE
Thanks everyone for sharing. I really wanted butterflies because they look so beautiful. My FH wasn't crazy about the idea, but anything to make me happy. After what I have read from you girls forget the butterfly idea!!!!
Thanks again. I rather know about this now than have these things possibly happen on the day of.

Re: BIRD OR BUTTERFLY RELEASE
I was told the birds are on a feeding schedule that will avoid the poop thing but I'm still nervous enough to skip it

Re: BIRD OR BUTTERFLY RELEASE
We did the doves and loved it. A friend of mine did the butterfly thing and it did not go well. Some of the butterflies were dead and the ones that were alive didn't fly. They just hop around like.

Re: BIRD OR BUTTERFLY RELEASE
i went to a wedding with butterflies and posted to that thread. i also went to a wedding where they released doves and white pidgeons. thought it was beautiful but didn't like the idea that they might poop on us. then...i heard that the pidgeons come back, but the doves do not...they don't survive. i don't know if that is true but it turned me off.
