What are some Birth Control Options besides 'The Pill'?
I've been on the pill for almost 6 1/2 years now, and I am a smoker.
I am really sick of taking the pill, and would like to know some of my options besides the pill. I only have sex about 1 a week. Is there a pill that I can take only after sex? DH definately won't use condoms. He doesn't want children, but refuses to get a visectame (SP?)

His lack of consideration would bother me.
That being said, there is the Patch, Nuva Ring, Depo Provera (a shot you get every 12 weeks) and IUD's. Ask your obgyn what she recommends. Good luck!

Agreed. Why should the birth control be totall up to you? He refuses to do anything- I'd talk to him about that, that wouldn't make me happy at all.
Ask your dr. what she recommends.

The today sponge is back on the market - if your FH is 'SPONGE WORTHY'!!!! hee hee hee no offense meant, just a Seinfeld joke.
Seriously, you can get them again, at least in Seattle.
You could also try a diaphragm, or the Lea's Shield, which is similar. You have to get those from your gyno.

Re: Birth Control Options?
Have you ever thought about charting your cycle? Then you would just abstain during your fertile time to avoid pregancy, no hormones, no pills. For most women it is normally about a 10 day period where they are fertile.

If you smoke, your best bet would be to use a diaphragm or something along those lines if you're worried about bc hormonal effects. I'd go to the gyno and then tell him that the doctor suggests that he get snipped. Charting your cycle I think is a dangerous way to go unless you are VERY, VERY regular.

Actually, I am pretty irregular (varies between 5-10 days sometimes), you just have to be very consistent about monitoring your signs, once you do it for 2 or 3 months, it becomes pretty easy.
ETS: You also have to educate yourself on the process, I have read 3 different books, I didn't just start doing it on my own.
