birth control question

so who knew that ortho-tricyclin now has a generic form? they do - got it yesterday - has anyone ever heard of it - Trinessa.

if you get it - be careful - the pill pack does not lock into the holder - my fell out this morning. I'm hoping its somewhere at home. if not, then my doctor is getting a call.

In most cases it's fine, but even a generic version of a drug can cause a reaction. Be careful and if this pack doesn't work for you, make sure to tell your doc to 'DAW' the script.

I just switched to Trinessa from Tri-cyclen. I thought it was great b/c it's so much cheaper, but those containers stink. Plus, if you don't start the pack on a Sunday, you have to use the sticker to keep track of days, but the sticker doesn't fit. Grrrr...

They also have another generic TriSprinttec.

I used triness for the last few months when I was in Texas but now that I'm in Florida the pharamcies must prefer the other generic.

I hated Trinessa because of the shape of it, I was used to having my sugar pills in the same circle.

Trisprintec is great it comes in a little pouch I used to have one for my ID card and metro card that was similar and the pills are 4 rows of 7 pills across so its real simple.

I freaked out in Feb when I got Trinessa also but I searched online and found out that Orthotricylen cleared for generics in late Dec 2003.

I didn't like it and went back to ortho-tri. It didn't help my cramps at all, which ortho really has. I am now paying like $80 for ortho, but it is worth it to me.

$80 for 1 month?? I went off Ortho Tricyclen in October and it was up to $35 per month

Re: birth control question

I only pay $25 for Ortho...my insurance must cover part of it since when I frist started it was medical reasons (very painful, excessive bleeding, vomiting during periods). When the generic came out I tried it and I had breakthrough bleeding and I didn't like the shape of the pack. I made my Dr. write DAW for my next prescription.

Sorry, $80 for 3 months, because my insurance covers some of it but not all. The generic would be $15 for 3 months, which is what ortho used to cost me Men should be required to pay for this!

Does anyone on ortho have breakthrough bleeding? I never did (been on it for over 3 years) and suddenly the last few months I have had it every month between periods...

Re: birth control question

I get it sometimes... I didn't have it at all until this year (and I have been on the pill since High School). My Dr. said it could be from stress or not taking the pill at the same exact time every day (which I do).

Yup, I got the generic last time too. I was so happy to have saved $10! I asked the pharmacist and she said that TriSprinttec and Ortho Tricyclen was exactly the same.

Re: birth control question

I used the Generic version of my birth control Ortho-Novum 777 and I NEVER GOT MY PERIOD! I freaked out, had a pregnancy test...thought I'd have a baby the same month as the wedding! Turns out my body was adjusting to the new pill. I said screw it and asked for the DR. to write DAW on my prescription. It was way too stressful to try a generic.

I was on it for a couple of years when it first came out and then I started spotting. They switched my pills, I now take Yasmin. I don't really remember if this was the case then or not, but I have discovered that if I take my pills at different times during the day that will also cause some break through bleeding.

I am now taking that new Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo
I like it... it seems to work the same, but with less chemicals. I get some light bleeding in between during the month, but that's likely because I take the pill when I go to bed, but I don't always go to bed at the same time.

Otherwise, I like it. So far, I don't think there is a generic for this. Anytime they've tried to give me generic, I refuse it. Sometimes they threaten to call my DR or whatever... I don't care. I only want what my body is used to. Now I have my Doc just write DAW or if she forgets, she told me to write it myself. Ha!

i just started the generic ortho three months ago, and I actually like it better. Partly because with my insurance I can get three months worth for $5!!!!!

I was just given this as a quickie so I would have for HM (I have to order thru mail order in order to not pay an arm & a leg so generic may sense for buying at the pharm).

I couldn't believe the little plastic 'business card holder' it came with!!!!

My doc just put me back on OrthTriCyclen from Trivora. The pharmacist gave me TriSprintec too - so far so good. And I love that it's only $7 a month!
