Based on the calculations, I should be getting my period during the entire honeymoon. If I skip taking the placebo pills, what will this do for me?

theoretically you'll get it sooner... i say theoretically because the thought of doing that sort of freaks me out. but i think a lot of girls have done it, i'm sure someone on here has.

Don't take placebo pills, start a new pack instead. It will make you skip your period but you may have breakthough bleeding

It should skip your period, depending on what pill you're taking. I would ask your doctor. I did this with the Ortho pills and it didn't work out so well for me, but it's because those have varying hormone levels.

i take yaz and my dr told me if I was gonna to skip the placebo. You should do it b4 ur wedding though so that by that time it will regulate. IE it will push ur period up the month after you skip by a week. so you may want to skip 2 sets of placebos so its 2 weeks back. Def talk to your doc

Re: Birth Control question
I've skipped the placebo before and just started a new pack of Ortho after week 3. I got some breakthrough bleeding for a few days, but it changed my schedule in the long run. If you're going to do it, I recommend doing it a few months before the wedding so that your cycle has time to be consistent.

Yes, the first time it worked for me too. The second time I had issues.

Yeah, that's your best bet. She'll know better for the pill you're on.

Re: Birth Control question
skipping placebos does nothing...its just a placeholder type of thing for girls that have to be consistent with taking a pill everyday. i actually skip the placebo row every month.
if you want to skip, you need to start a brand new pack when you would typically take the placebo. so six weeks of active pills before you would get your next period. i think if you take a lower estrogen form (ie. Yaz), you are most likely going to get some breakthrough than if you took regular hormone level (ie Yasmin) i did do this once to change my schedule and experienced breakthough even though i was on normal hormone-level BC. And it takes at least a month or two to re-regulate (or at least in my situation)...
double check everything with your doc ASAP if you are limited with your time. HTH. Good luck.

Re: Birth Control question
you will get it sooner, but you should do it a couple months before the cycle before the wedding...because ive done it, and basically i spotted throughout the rest of that month that followed....and that is worse than having ur period altogether
im due to have it during my wedding and HM, so im skipping the placebos this month...that way i will spot through february, and my cycle will be back to normal, but one week sooner, by May, and it will be over the week before the wedding, and not come back until after the HM

The placebo pills are just sugar. Skipping them won't do anything. I've been on BCP for 10 years and have never once taken the placebo pill. The only purpose of it is to keep you in the habit of taking it every day.

Re: Birth Control question
Skipping the placebos will bring your period on. I take Yaz and when I don't want to have a period I simply don't take the placebos and start a new pack. This has always worked well for me. Still, it depends on which form of birth control you are taking.
