Birthday gift help

One of my friends has a birthday in a week and I haven't gone shopping for her yet. I want to get her something cool, but I'm not sure what. Anyone have any ideas? I guess it should be relatively inexpensive maybe $30 or less.

ETA: I'd spend more but I'm probably going to get her a cake and pay for her dinner as well.

What are her hobbies? Does she like to read cause my sil gave me the coolest bookmark... it was from Fortunoff's and had crystals... I'm not sure how much it was though... but you could do that with a book of some sort
